Shamrock Rovers vs Bohemians

Shamrock Rovers vs Bohemians – Friday 8 pm, Virgin Media Two

Odds

Shamrock Rovers – 6/5

Bohemians – 2/1

Draw  – 21/10

It may have taken eleven games into the Premier Division , but Shamrock Rovers now find themselves back top of the table following their 0-1 win over St Patrick’s Athletic last Friday Night. However, the next question for Stephen Bradley and his side is if they can consolidate, extend and stay there for the rest of ot with still close to two-thirds of the fixtures left to play.

Bohemians' poor performances caught up with them last weekend when they were beaten 1-2 by Sligo Rovers after squandering their early lead through Zane Myers . The Gypsies are now winless in their last five fixtures, which will give their supporters huge cause for concern despite only trailing their opponents at the top by two points, eleven games into the season.

Prediction: Shamrock Rovers 2-0 Bohemians

Dublin Derbies are generally a high-scoring affair, and though Bohemians won 3-2 last time, I think the home side should have more about them at this stage.

Best Bet: Shamrock Rovers @ 6/5

Shelbourne vs Derry City

Shelbourne vs Derry City – Friday 7:45 pm, LOI TV

Odds

Shelbourne -  5/4

Derry City – 2/1

Draw  – 21/10

Preview

Shelbourne are another side who initially headed into last weekend hoping to end a poor run of form after back-to-back defeats 2-3 against Dundalk and 3-2 to Shamrock Rovers . However, their away tie to Galway United last weekend was another which fell victim to heavy rain, resulting in the game being postponed. Joey O’Brien and his squad only have three wins from their opening ten games, and more are needed fast.

Derry City, like their opponents, were backed substantially in the off-season, which led to heightened expectations, both of which haven’t gotten close to even if its early days. Their 2-2 draw with Dundalk at Oriel Park further increased the pressure on Tiernan Lynch, and it really does feel like something may have to give sooner rather than later if this form continues.

Prediction: Shelbourne 1-1 Derry City

It may not be quite “El Sackico”, at least when it comes to the manager in the home dugout, but both sides are badly in need of a win, and I’m not convinced we get one.

Best Bet: Derry City or Draw @ 4/6

 Drogheda vs St Patrick’s Athletic

Drogheda vs St Patrick’s Athletic– Friday 7:45 pm, LOI TV

Odds

Drogheda  – 16/5

St Patrick’s Athletic – 20/23

Draw  – 11/5

Preview

Though Drogheda were scheduled to play Waterford away last weekend, in what would’ve been seen as the perfect chance to end their eight-game winless streak. The game was postponed due to adverse weather, and due to results elsewhere, they not only fell to eighth in the table, but are now only two ahead of Sligo Rovers, albeit with a game in hand.

Few would’ve expected St Patrick’s Athletic to be finding themselves at the top this season first after an understated off-season, but even more so after their drab opening weekend performance against Bohemians in the Aviva, where they were arguably fortunate to come away with a 0-0 draw. However, though they were beaten by Shamrock Rovers 0-1 last weekend, their results in between have been solid, and Stephen Kenny will be more than happy to have twenty points and be within two of the top with eleven games played. Furthermore, with no European Football in 2026, that could be a blessing in disguise if they can stay in touch come the summer.

Prediction: Drogheda 0-1 St Patrick’s Athletic

Drogheda are winless in their last nine head-to-head games, and I think they may struggle again on Friday Night.

Best Bet: St Patrick's Athletic @ 4/5

Dundalk vs Galway United

Dundalk vs Galway United– Friday 7:45 pm, LOI TV

Odds

Dundalk – 10/11

Galway United – 5/2

Draw – 5/2

Preview

Dundalk picked up a point at Oriel Park last Friday Night when they held Derry City to a 2-2 draw, which made it five fixtures unbeaten. Their seamless transition on return to the Premier Division and eighteen points from their opening eleven games means that they may not be thinking of just getting safety in 2026, but the outside but ever-growing prospect of qualifying for Europe in 2026.

Galway United are another side who have defied expectations this season, and their fourteen points from ten games has them currently sitting in fifth position. Last time out, they won 2-3 in a thriller against Drogheda, but had their home fixture against Shelbourne postponed last weekend . Whether the break will be a positive or bring on rustiness remains to be seen.

Prediction: Dundalk 1-1 Galway United

Two of the “Surprise Packages” so far in 2026, and I can see this being a closely fought fight on Friday.

Best Bet: Draw @ 5/2

Sligo Rovers vs Waterford

Sligo Rovers vs Waterford – Friday 7:45 pm, LOI TV

Odds

Sligo Rovers – 20/21

Waterford – 23/10

Draw – 12/5

Preview

Sligo Rovers doubled their victory tally for the season last weekend when they deservedly came back to overcome Bohemians 1-2. Though it’s an early juncture of the season, that win solidified their position in nineth and put them four ahead of bottom-placed Waterford as well as within a win of both Drogheda and Derry City . More is needed by John Russell and his side if they’re to distance themselves from the relegation picture, and their fixtures in the coming weeks will tell a huge story.

Waterford are a curious case. Before their game with Drogheda being postponed last weekend, they had earned back-to-back 1-1 draws against Bohemians and Shamrock Rovers. Ultimately , they still sit cut adrift at the bottom of the table following four points from their opening ten fixtures. Given that this game comes against the side immediately above them with a cushion, this is huge for their survival aspirations.

Prediction: Sligo Rovers 2-0 Waterford

Two of the bottom two face off, but both should be relatively high in confidence; I can see the home factor being key.

Best Bet: Sligo Roves @ EVS
