Cork City strong favourites at Turner’s Cross as the Rebels chase an eighth straight win

Cork City are commanding favourites with BOYLE Sports t o make it eight wins on the spin when they welcome Bray Wanderers to Turner’s Cross this Friday night (7:45 pm).

Barry Robson ’s table toppers head into the weekend a remarkable 15 points clear at the summit after last week’s emphatic 4-0 demolition of Treaty United , a seventh consecutive win that has all but secured automatic promotion. The in-form Hans Mpongo continues to lead the line, the Dutchman grabbing a brace on Leeside to stay firmly in the Golden Boot race, while Ruairí Keating and teenager Cillian Murphy were also on target.

The Rebel Army have been near flawless at home, winning nine of their ten outings at Turner’s Cross, and are priced at a red-hot 4/7 to see off a Bray side that sits third but has flattered to deceive on the road. The Seagulls remain unbeaten at the Carlisle Grounds , yet their away record reads just two wins from ten, and the visitors are rated a generous 15/4 to leave Leeside with a famous scalp.

UCD And Cobh Clash In Play-Off Six-Pointer

Among the chasing pack, second-placed UCD host fourth-placed Cobh Ramblers at the Belfield Bowl in a genuine play-off six-pointer. The free-scoring Students , leaning on the goals of Ciaran Behan and Hugh Smith , hold a narrow edge over a Ramblers side marshalled by the in-form Dylan McGlade , with just two points separating the pair in a congested promotion picture.

Elsewhere, Kerry FC welcome Longford Town to Mounthawk Park as the Kingdom look to build some momentum, while Wexford host Treaty United in a meeting of two of the division’s strugglers, the Limerick outfit still rooted to the foot of the table after their Leeside mauling last time out.

Athlone Town entertain Finn Harps at Athlone Town Stadium in a clash of sides scrapping in the lower reaches, with Harps desperate to climb clear of the relegation conversation.

All of this Friday’s First Division action can be streamed live on LOITV .
