Liverpool will look to continue their hugely impressive home record against goal-shy Tottenham this week as they chase a place in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup. Spurs have not won at Anfield since 2011 and have suffered 12 defeats in 17 league and cup trips to the red half of Merseyside since that success.
The north Londoners did manage to snatch a 1-1 Premier League draw last season, Richarlison netting a stoppage-time leveller, but their four visits prior to that had seen them concede a whopping 17 goals.
Liverpool, who have won the League Cup a record 10 times and reached the final in 2024 and 2025, are still unbeaten in five games under new boss Andoni Iraola this season but have drawn three of those, including a disappointing goalless home stalemate with Fulham on Saturday.
Spurs were also held at home over the weekend and their similarly drab 0-0 draw with Everton means they are still searching for their first Premier League goal of the campaign. Liverpool’s form may not be the greatest but Spurs would swap positions with them in a heartbeat. Expectations were high that Spurs might be a force to be reckoned with after showing an improvement under Roberto de Zerbi last season before heavily investing in reinforcements over the summer.
But they are currently languishing in the bottom four of the Premier League after losing to Brentford (3-0) and Newcastle (2-0) and recording goalless draws with Nottingham Forest and Everton. That has left Spurs still searching for their first win and goals in the league, although they did enjoy some respite in the cup after thrashing Charlton 5-1.
Savio was among the scorers in that game and he impressed against Everton, too, and the £75million signing from Manchester City could be a decent option to net at Anfield @ 7/2.
De Zerbi may be reluctant to rest too many players, especially with an international break coming up, but the likes of James Maddison and Mohammed Kudus could be drafted in and they are also 7/2 to get on the scoresheet, while fellow forward Mathys Tel is 3/1.
