Manchester City will seek to continue their remarkable record in League Cup finals when they face Arsenal in a mouthwatering Wembley showdown on Sunday.
City have won eight of their previous nine League Cup final appearances, with their only setback coming way back in 1974 when they lost 2-1 to Wolves following an 85th-minute winner.
Much of City's success in the tournament has come under Pep Guardiola, winning it on four successive occasions between 2018-2021, although this is the first time they have progressed beyond the quarter-finals since that last triumph.
Arsenal, in contrast, have found the League Cup an almost impossible competition to win.
They have lifted the trophy just twice, in 1987 and 1993, and have been beaten in the final six times - including at the hands of City in 2018.
The top two teams in England go into the 2026 showpiece on the back of mixed Champions League results, City knocked out by Real Madrid as Arsenal eased past Bayer Leverkusen, but we think it will be Guardiola's men celebrating this weekend.
Four of the last six clashes between these two have finished in draws - three of them with last-minute equalisers - so expect it to be close, and our prediction is a City victory @ 2/1, with odds of 9/1 for them to win on penalties.

The Gunners make the short trip across London looking to complete the first part of a potential quadruple this season.
Arsenal did have a little wobble earlier this year but are now looking back to their clinically efficient best, winning 11 of 14 matches since their last defeat.
That run has seen them open up a nine-point lead over City at the top of the Premier League as well as reaching the quarter-finals of the FA Cup and Champions League, where they will be overwhelming favourites to beat Southampton and Sporting Lisbon respectively.
First up is a chance to win only the second major piece of silverware under Arteta, with City standing in their way at the national stadium.
Eberechi Eze has scored four goals in his last seven appearances for the Gunners in three different competitions, while he also struck the only goal of last season’s FA Cup final for Crystal Palace against City, so he is clearly a man for the big occasion.
The England forward is 3/1 to score again on Sunday and, thanks to BOYLE Sports’ Sub Swap feature, your bet could be inherited by the likes of Gabriel Martinelli, Noni Madueke or Kai Havertz if Eze is replaced by one of them without netting.
Manchester City Form Guide
City were knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid for the fourth time in five seasons after losing 5-1 on aggregate to the Spanish giants.
However, City were unfortunate to go down 2-1 at home on Tuesday, pushing Real all the way despite having Bernardo Silva sent off after just 20 minutes.
How much that match will have taken out of City mentally and physically remains to be seen but, with Arsenal now in control of the Premier League title race and the Champions League no longer an option, we expect Guardiola's side to be fired up for Wembley.
The good news for City supporters is that Erling Haaland was back on the scoresheet in midweek - only his fifth goal in 19 matches - and he is 4/1 to open the scoring against Arsenal.
Antoine Semenyo has hit the ground running at City and, having been named on the bench against Real, he could be drafted back into the starting line-up and odds of 9/4 for him to net on Sunday are definitely worth considering.
City to win with BTTS @ 5/1 is another decent option, while you can get 30/1 for Haaland to score the only goal of what is likely to be a tight encounter.
