Cardiff City Form Guide

The Bluebirds were promoted back to the Championship last May at the first time of asking after finishing the 46-game season marathon with 91 points to finish in second place, twelve back of winners Lincoln City but 16 ahead of Stockport City and Bradford City immediately above them.

Cardiff come into this midweek fixture on the back of a 3-0 defeat to Wolves last Saturday with Fer López, Adam Armstrong and Ladislav Krejcí. The result doesn’t tell the full story though, as they were more than competitive, having 61% of possession and 13 shots for a total XG of 0.90 compared to Wolves accumulating an XG of 1.58 from their 13 shots.

Head Coach Brian Barry Murphy has done a superb job since being appointed in June 2025, following on the back of coaching roles of varying descriptions at Rochdale, Manchester City’s Academy and Leicester City. The summer he came, the club lost over two dozen players, the majority of whom were first-team squad members. Despite that challenge, he guided them back to the Championship at the first time of asking.

Ahead of this game, Republic of Ireland International Jack Moylan will be Cardiff’s key dangerman.

On the back of signing from Lincoln City during the summer, he’s continued his meteoric rise in stature with 7 goals and 3 assists in 13 league games this season, including 6 Goals and 3 Assists in 13 Championship appearances. His raw energy, dribbling ability and general productivity will likely have him ascending the levels further in the coming months and years.

West Ham United Form Guide

West Ham United head to South East Wales on the back of a disappointing 1-3 defeat to West Brom last weekend, which was their second consecutive loss in the league after their 2-3 loss to Southampton the previous week.

However, like the game against The Saints, they were unfortunate not to earn at least a point, having had 55% of possession and 14 shots to West Brom’s 12 on Saturday.

The Hammers remain very much in contention at the top of the table, with their 22-point tally from their opening 13 league games placing them in eighth position and only four behind second-placed Swansea City. Their 33 goals scored make them the highest scorers in the division and three more than next best Middlesbrough, who lead the league.

Jarrod Bowen continued his red-hot streak of productivity last weekend when scoring against West Brom, taking the talismanic captain's tally for the season to 9 goals and 6 assists from his 16 games in all competitions.

Elsewhere, the performance of Mohamadou Kanté since being transitioned by Nuno Espírito Santo from CM to CF in recent weeks has really caught the eye. Though it’s early days for him, his ball-carrying ability, pace, power and aggression could become a key focal point for their attack in the coming weeks.

Betting Tips

Cardiff City vs West Ham United Betting Tips

West Ham United – 5/6

West Ham United may be on the road midweek, but they have one of the strongest records away from home this season, going unbeaten across their six away games with three victories and three draws. Only Birmingham City and West Brom have more away points (one point more) and have played an extra game.

Though they haven’t had a win in a couple of weeks, they were arguably unfortunate not to do so and remain arguably the strongest side in the league on their day.

West Ham Win & Both Teams to Score – 9/4

Games involving The Hammers tend to be goal-fests. Across their 13 league games, there have been 51 goals, averaging almost 4 a game. The team scored in each of their last two outings, the defeats to Southampton (2-3) and West Brom (1-3). Cardiff score regularly in their own stadium, so expect goals at both ends.

Jack Moylan Anytime Goal – 15/8

Given his red-hot form and the fact he’s central to everything good going forward for Cardiff, backing Moylan in the anytime scorer market makes plenty of appeal. He’s got the movement and the sharpness in front of goal to trouble any defence at this level, so he looks a tempting shout to get on the scoresheet.
