Arsenal will look to continue their impressive run in the Community Shield when they face Manchester City at the Millennium Stadium this weekend. The Gunners have been victorious in their last five appearances in the traditional Premier League season curtain-raiser, and won nine of 11 stretching back to 1998.
City’s recent Shield record is less impressive despite being the dominant force in English football, winning only half of their 10 appearances over the last 15 years under Roberto Mancini, Manuel Pellegrini and Pep Guardiola. Two of those five defeats have come at the hands of Arsenal, in 2014 and 2023 , and City will hope the arrival of Enzo Maresca can bring a change of fortune.
