Lewis Hamilton was left fuming after Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc messed up his chances of Monza success but can hopefully hit straight back in Madrid . The British legend has been unable to build on his earlier resurgence this season, when runner-up efforts in Canada and Monaco were followed by an emotional Barcelona triumph.
However, this new Madring circuit offers Hamilton a fair chance of challenging for top honours and we’re looking to keep him on side in our Spanish Grand prix predictions . Punters can get 7/1 for the seven-time world champion to pass the chequered flag first , while those who prefer to play it safer should snap up 5/4 for a podium finish.

Ferrari fall-out
Ferrari address damaging driver fall-out
Ferrari’s hopes of a home victory were dashed by Leclerc’s early antics, with Hamilton accusing the Monegasque of driving him off the track at the opening chicane. That incident saw Hamilton slip from fourth to 10 th and Leclerc then crashed out on the second lap after losing control of his car at 160mph through the Curva Parabolica.
“We’ve got to change things because it’s not helping us move forward,” declared Hamilton , who ultimately finished sixth. “We’re just not executing as well as we can - and it comes down to rules of engagement.”
Team principal Fred Vasseur pledged to “discuss” the fall-out after warning that in-fighting “is not good for the team”, so fingers crossed for a clean race in Madrid . Leclerc wowed “we will make sure to come back stronger” and is 9/1 to prevail in the outright Spanish Grand Prix odds, plus 6/4 for a top-three placing.
Mercedes wary
Mercedes wary of ‘much tougher fight’
Kimi Antonelli predictably heads the betting for Sunday’s race at 7/4 after a sensational success at Monza extended his lead at the top of the drivers’ championship table to 66 points.
The 20-year-old started out 19th on the grid due to an engine penalty but capitalised on an explosive new power unit, a favourable strategy and a demonstration of passing excellence to reel in Mercedes team-mate George Russell with just three laps remaining.
Russell will have some reason to feel aggrieved with his team after split strategies again seemed to go in favour of Antonelli and the Briton is 9/2 for a much-needed victory this weekend.
However, both could face a harder battle here, as trackside engineering director Andrew Shovlin told the F1 website: “We know that Monza is an outlier as a track though and we cannot expect this form to continue into Madrid next week. That will be a much tougher fight.”
Madrid’s set-up has been likened to that of Miami , where McLaren ace Lando Norris won in 2024 and has subsequently been second twice, so 10/3 for the reigning world champion will tempt some punters. Team-mate Oscar Piastri can be backed at 11/1, while Max Verstappen continues to get as much as possible out of his Red Bull car and is quoted at 10/1.
