Premier League Football 202425

Brighton had a brilliant record at Goodison Park but Everton will surely be spurred on by performing at their new Hill Dickinson Stadium on Sunday.

Albion’s last four away games against the Toffees have resulted in three wins and a draw, with 11 goals scored and just four conceded.

Opposing the visitors on that evidence is tough, but the mood on Merseyside will be positive this weekend, so 9/4 for a draw is our opening Everton vs Brighton prediction.

David Moyes made no secret of his desire to bring in more signings before Everton’s opening trip to Leeds and it was easy to have sympathy with the Scot during a 1-0 defeat.

The Toffees struggled to get a foothold in that game and forward forays were few and far between, with a first attempt on goal not coming until almost 10 minutes into the second half.

They did improve as the game went on, though, and the crucial decision to award a penalty against James Tarkowski for handball late on was harsh.

Getting substitute Jack Grealish up to speed will be a big boost and there is a strong belief that Moyes will get more reinforcements.

The Toffees recorded just five wins in front of their own fans last season, but there were a division-high nine stalemates at Goodison, the last five of which were score draws.

Looking at the Everton vs Brighton odds, we like 16/5 for both teams to hit the target and share the spoils.

Brighton Form Guide

The Seagulls said goodbye to Joao Pedro and several other useful players after finishing eighth in the Premier League table last term but retained the same easy-on-the-eye style when returning to action.

Brighton created a number of decent chances before Matt O’Riley put them in front from the penalty spot at home to Fulham.

Further opportunities to increase their advantage were wasted, though, and Albion paid the price when the Cottagers came alive late on, with Rodrigo Muniz eventually grabbing a leveller in the sixth minute of stoppage time.

Even so, it was a promising display by Fabian Hurzeler’s men, with athletic midfielder Carlos Baleba showing why he is reportedly a target for Manchester United, and Yankuba Minteh also impressing.

Minteh could be one to watch out for regarding goalscorer markets this term, but a slight preference in our Everton vs Brighton betting tips is for Kaoru Mitoma to hit the target again in this fixture.

The Japan international netted first in last term’s 3-0 win at Goodison and also broke the deadlock when Albion romped to a 4-1 victory there three seasons ago.
