Eurovision Favourites

Croatia – 6/5

The favourite ahead of Saturday's Eurovision Grand Final is Croatia at odds of 6/5 according to the latest Eurovision odds at BoyleSports. Those odds suggest the Croats have a 14.3% chance of winning the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest.

It’s worth noting that 17% of bets taken on the event so far have been for Croatia per Oddschecker.

Croatia has partaken in the Eurovision Song Contest 28 times since making its debut in the competition during the 1993 contest. They achieved 6 Top-10 results in 7 years between 1995-2001.

However, since that successful the country has failed to make the Top 10 with their best recent result coming back in 2017 when they finished 13th and their best results ever finish was 4th place in 1996 and 1999.

Croatia are represented by Baby Lasagna a hybrid artist who gathers inspiration from of pop-punk, techno, metal, and house. The story behind his music delves into his personal experiences, while also addressing broader societal issues.

He will be singing the song "Rim Tim Tagi Dim" which is a humorous song about the economic emigration of young Croatians. But the up tempo electronic tune certainly got the crowd dancing with his Semi-Final performance and right now looks a worthy favourite for Eurovision glory!

Switzerland - 7/2

The 2nd favourite for the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest is Switzerland at odds of 7/2. Those odds suggest the country has a 22.2% chance of winning Eurovision 2024.  Furthermore, per Oddschecker 7% of bets that have taken place so far have predicted Swiss delight on Saturday.

Switzerland have made 63 appearances in the Eurovision Song Contest reaching the finals on 52 occasions. They’ve won the competition twice their first success came when Lys Assia won the first contest in 1956 with the song "Refrain". Their second success came in 1988 with Celine Dion and the song "Ne partez pas sans moi"

Since the qualifying round was introduced in 1993 they haven’t had the best of times only making the top-10 four times. Since the introduction of the semi-final round in 2004, Switzerland have failed to reach the final in 11 of 19 contests, including finishing in last place in the semi-final on four occasions.

Switzerland will be represented by Nemo at the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest who is best known for rapping or singing, whilst also playing the piano and the drums. The song which Nemo will be singing is titled "The Code" which is a “popera” with a modern-day electronic sound that could go quite well in Eurovision circles.

Nemo must first navigate the  Semi-Final on Thursday where the Swiss are 2/5 To Win their Semi-Final and a comprehensive 1/500 to qualify. Bigger things seem to be ahead for all the team on Saturday and that might just be Eurovision glory..

Italy - 7/1

The 3rd favourite for the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest is Italy at odds of 7/1. Those odds suggest the country has an 12.5% chance of winning Eurovision 2024.

Italy have participated in the contest on 48 occasions with their 1st appearance coming in 1956. Italy was also one of the 7 countries that competed in the first contest, which took inspiration from the Sanremo Music Festival. Italy has won the contest on three occasions. Those wins came in 1964 with the song ‘Non ho l'età’, performed by Gigliola Cinquetti, 1990, ‘Insieme’ in 1992, written and performed by Toto Cutugno and in 2021 with the song ‘Zitti e buoni’, performed by Måneskin.

Italy on Saturday will be represented by Angelina Mango at the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest an Italian Singer - songwriter who is best known for partaking in the 27th edition of the of the of the Amici di Maria De Filippi talent contest, finishing second and winning the singing category.

Angelina will be singing "La noia" which has been described as  "upbeat, fresh, carefree" with "a latin soul" and "a refrain that smells of Mediterranean tradition."

As a member of the "Big Five", Italy automatically qualifies for Saturdays final

Ireland - 8/1

Following a showstopping performance from Bambi Thug in the Semi-Final Ireland have now been backed into 8/1 joint fourth favourites to win Saturday's Final.  Those odds imply that the Emerald Isle has only a 11.1% chance of success in Eurovision 2024.

Ireland has made 56 appearances in the contest with the 1st coming in 1965. It’s been a poor few years for Ireland at the contest. However, they remain the joint most successful country in the competition with their 7 successes. Those wins came in 1970, 1980, 1987, 1992, 1993, 1994, and 1996. Sweden equalled Ireland’s total of 7 song contests wins last year.

Ireland will be represented by Bambi Thug following victory in the Ireland Eurosong Contest last Friday Night with the song "Doomsday Blues".  The song has a distinctive style mixing alt-rock, pop and jazz. An "electro-metal breakdown" dealing with topics of heartbreak, deception and the pain of unrequited love creates a "hard-hitting" and "explosive" song. This song certainly packs a unique punch.

Bambi certainly casted a spell in the Semi-Final and now has been cut into 8/1 such was the dynamism on display, it'll be interesting to see what big plans are ahead for Saturdays Final.

This is Ireland's best chance of success since 1996.

Ukraine- 8/1

Ukraine are the other joint fourth favourites with Ireland also at 8/1 suggesting they have a 11.1% chance of winning the competition for the fourth time.

Ukraine have participated in the Eurovision Song Contest on 18 occasions since making their debut at the final in 20023. They have won the competition 3 times in 2004, 2016 and most recently in 2022 with the song Stefania" performed by the group Kalush Orchestra

Kyiv has hosted the contest on two occasions. However, due to the war, they were unable to host the event last year and instead were replaced by second place from that year, the UK.

Ukraine will be represented by Alyona Alyona who is a a Ukrainian rapper and songwriter. Alyona has been dubbed "the new rap star of Ukraine" and "the sensation of Ukrainian rap. She will sing the song "Teresa & Maria” a song about hope inspired by Roman Catholic saint Mother Teresa and the Virgin Mary

Ukraine will be thereabouts again for success this year if we are to go by the betting odds after finishing 6th place last year.
