As we gear up for Saturday's Grand Final of the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest, we preview the favourites and our best bets ahead of the weekends musical showcase.

This is the 69th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest and will take place in Basel Switzerland, following the country's victory at the 2024 contest with the song "The Code" by Nemo.

Switzerland have made it a hat-trick of hosting performances this year having previously done so for the inaugural contest in 1956 and the 1989 contest, held in Lugano and Lausanne, respectively.

Eurovision Grand Final Favourites

Sweden – EVS

Sweden are red-hot favourites for a record-breaking eighth Eurovision success with odds of EVS suggesting a 50% chance of success.

Sweden has participated in the contest 64 times, with their first appearance coming in 1958, where Brita Borg sang the song Augustin and finished 4th in the final out of 10 countries. They’re one of only 3 countries (The Netherlands and the UK too)  with Eurovision victories in 4 different decades, winning the contest in 1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, 2015, 2023. Their total of 7 victories puts them as the joint most successful country in the history of the competition, along with Ireland.

The Swedes look set to return with a bang this year, with KAJ singing Bara Bada Bastu clearly striking a chord with Eurovision fans, with their official music video being viewed 11 million times, along with their semi-final performance on Tuesday being viewed 1.6 million times on the official Eurovision channel.

Key to their success on Saturday will be the Tele vote, where they’re 1/2 favourites to win, while only 10/1 fourth favourites to win the Jury Vote behind Austria 10/11, France 5/2, Switzerland 6/1 and Netherlands 8/1.

It’s hard to see past a Swedish victory, though at odds at EVS, it’s far from a foregone conclusion.

Austria – 10/3

Next in the betting for the first Eurovision semi-final is Austria, who are second favourites in the outright betting with odds of 10/3.

Austria has participated in the contest 57 times, with their first appearance coming in 1957, with their best results coming in both 1966 and 2014, where they won the Song Contest. More recently, “Nobody but You" by Cesár Sampson achieved Austria's eighth top-five result and second-best result of the 21st century at the 2018 contest, finishing third.

It was a poor year for the country in 2024 when they finished in 24th place with 24 points. However, they safely secured their passage to the final on Tuesday Night when JJ sang Wasted Love, qualifying from the first semi-final.

The strength of the Austrian challenge will likely come in their performance with the Jury, with the country currently priced at 10/11 to win the Jury Vote, with their next best challenger France with odds of 5/2, they’re 25/1 to win the Tele Vote behind Sweden 1/2. Israel 4/1, Estonia 5.1 and Finland 16/1.

They look well placed to, at a minimum, perform far better than they did last year, whether that will be enough to win is a harder task.

France – 8/1

The third favourite for the Eurovision is Louane with the song Maman, with odds of 8/1.

France has been represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 68 times since making its debut at the first contest in 1956. They’ve won the event on 5 occasions, coming in 1958, 1960, 1962, 1969 and 1978. Though their performances in subsequent years were often far poorer, more recently, a runner-up result in 2021 and a 4th finish in 2024 suggest another win could be on the cards soon.

Louane performed Maman during Thursday’s semi-final, though she had already qualified for the final due to France being a member of the “Big Five” (France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK) due to their broadcasters' major financial contributions to the EBU.

This emotional ballad dealing with the topic of cancer is 5/2 second favourite to win the Jury Vote, but interestingly is not fancied to come close to landing the Tele vote with odds of 80/1 putting 10 countries shorter priced.

France to win -8/1

Eurovision Grand Final Best Bets

Estonia Each-Way – 28/1  (EW 1/5, 1,2,3)

Estonia, represented by Tommy Cash with the song Expresso Macchiato, has emerged as a value each-way play ahead of Saturday's Grand Final.

They have been represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 30 times since making its debut in 1994, with its sole success coming in 2001 when  Tanel Padar, Dave Benton and 2XL won with the song Everybody.

Since the introduction of the semi-final round in 2004, Estonia has failed to reach the final on ten occasions and has reached the top ten five times, but their 11 Top-10 finishes is more than any Baltic Country.

However, Expresso Macchiato has caught the attention of Eurovision fanaatics with the song viewed 6.4 million times on the official channel and the performance on Tuesday is the second most viewed of them all with 2.6 million hits, helped by the stage invasion incident (planned or not is up for debate) where the fan wore a t-shirt saying “I love Tommy Cash” and danced with Tommy.

Sweden and Austria look well placed to be the Top-2  in the market, but Estonia looks well placed to challenge France, Finland and the Netherlands for third spot with this catchy and energetic performance,

France Jury Win – 5/2

Our next Best Bet is France to win the Jury Vote with odds of 5/2, suggesting a 28.6% chance of this event occurring on Saturday Night and only behind Austria with odds of 10/11.

The aforementioned Louane performed Maman during Thursday’s semi-final, and it certainly looks like a major player to win Saturday’s jury vote. The song Maman is a heartfelt emotional ballad with polished and pristine vocals, making it a very likely hit with the juries.

Their status as one of the “Big Five”  suggests there could be a political nature to the jury favouring them as they’ve, in recent years, performed well in 2021, coming 2nd and in 2024, coming 4th.

Malta - Top 10 - 7/4

Our next suggested bet is Malta for a Top-10 finish in Saturday's Grand Final, which could emulate their 7th finish in 2021 when Destiny sang Je me casse.

Malta has made 36 appearances at the Eurovision Finals, with their first appearance coming in 1971. Their best results have both come in 2002 and 2005 when they finished as runners-up. At last year's competition, they failed to qualify from their semi-final, finishing 16th.

However, Miriana Conte’s infectious energy with "Serving" has sparked buzz for its catchy party vibes and vibrant staging on social media sites such as X.  Currently, roughly 10th in the odds, I think odds of 7/4 remain a value bet.

Elsewhere, Iceland’s upbeat dance song at odds of 12/1 is a good value outside bet for a Top-10 finish

Malta Top-10 - 9/4
