Turkey vs Georgia
TURKEY TO WIN IN GEORGIA @ 6/5
Turkey came out on top with a 3-1 victory when these teams clashed during the Euro 2024 group stage and have become a solid outfit under Vincenzo Montella, seeing off Austria in the round of 16 before only losing 2-1 to the Netherlands.
Georgia are no mugs at home, but Turkey certainly don’t suffer from travel sickness, as highlighted by away wins over Iceland, Hungary and the USA in the past 12 months, scoring nine times on those road trips. They also dominated for long periods when drawing 0-0 in Wales, where striker Kerem Akturkoglu missed a late penalty.
Lithuania vs Malta
LITHUANIA TO BEAT MALTA @ EVENS
These countries met in qualifying for the 2018 World Cup, when Lithuania prevailed 2-0 on home turf before drawing in Malta, so the omens look good for a repeat result in Kaunas following June’s goalless stalemate in Ta’ Qali.
Malta have lost their other three matches by an aggregate scoreline of 11-0, while Lithuania were far from disgraced in a 1-0 defeat in Poland and emerged with plenty of credit from a 2-2 home draw against Finland.
Spain vs Bulgaria
SPAIN TO WIN TO NIL IN BULGARIA @ 4/9
La Roja are past masters at controlling proceedings in matches like this, dominating possession with their neat passing skills and keeping opposing teams penned back in their own half.
Bulgaria are coming off a 4-0 friendly defeat in Greece and may settle for damage limitation here, having only scored three goals in six Nations League group games against Belarus, Luxembourg and Northern Ireland last autumn.
The Netherlands vs Poland
NETHERLANDS TO BEAT POLAND & OVER 1.5 GOALS @ 4/9
The Dutch came from behind to beat Poland 2-1 at Euro 2024 last summer and have claimed seven wins and a draw from their last eight head-to-head meetings.
The Netherlands have hit the ground running in Group G, with an 8-0 demolition of Malta following a 2-0 triumph away to Finland. That form gives them the edge over Poland, who beat Lithuania and Malta but then suffered a 2-1 loss to Finland in Helsinki.
Germany vs Slovakia
GERMANY TO WIN IN SLOVAKIA @ 2/5
Die Mannschaft found Portugal and France too strong in this summer’s Nations League finals, but have generally rediscovered their trademark efficiency under Julian Nagelsmann.
A 2-1 extra-time loss to Spain in the Euro 2024 quarter-finals was their sole defeat in 17 previous outings, and there is a nice blend of youth and experience in the current squad, which features Liverpool’s big-money buy Florian Wirtz, Newcastle recruit Nick Woltemade and West Ham striker Niclas Fullkrug.
