Europa League Winner Odds 2023

Juventus - 15/8

“The Old Lady” are not the team they once were that used to dominate the Serie A (currently third) but nevertheless they find themselves favourites for the Europa League as we enter the Semi-Final stage of the competition.

Juventus started their 22/23 European journey in the Champions League by being drawn in Group G a group which included PSG, Benfica and Maccabi Haifa. Tipped to rival PSG for the title group winners, Juventus proved to be out of their depth in the group losing all their games bar one which was a 3-1 home victory over Maccabi Haifa, but they lost the return fixture 2-0.

Juventus finished the group with nine goals scored and thirteen conceded meaning their -4-goal difference over Haifa at -14 was enough for them to secure third place and a pathway into the Europa League.

In the knockout round play-offs, they drew with Nantes 1-1 in the first leg and beat them 0-3 away in the second leg to ensure a pathway into the Round of 16. They got another favourable draw in SC Freiburg next who they defeated 1-0 at home in the first leg and 0-2 away in the second leg.

Juventus faced their toughest test yet in the quarter-final beating Sporting Lisbon in Italy 1-0 in the first leg and drawing 1-1 with them in the second leg.

It almost seems like this competition is beneath even an underperforming Juventus side. Players like Vlahović, Locatelli and Chiesa make them justified favourites for this competition. However, they play Europa League specialists and giant killers Sevilla in the semi-final so don’t rule out an upset!

Bayer Leverkusen - 5/2

Managed by Spanish great Xabi Alonso since October, they currently occupy the sixth position in the Bundesliga. They started their 22/23 European journey in the Champions League by being drawn in Group B a group which included Porto, Club Brugge and Atletico Madrid.

Leverkusen finished the group with a record of one win, two draws and three defeats perhaps disappointingly coming behind Porto on 12 points and Brugge on 11 points. Perhaps the greatest surprise was that their equal goal difference of -4 with Atletico plus their superior head-to-head 2-0 home win and 2-2 away draw earned them a place in the Europa League.

In the knockout round play-offs, they got a tough draw with Monaco losing the first leg at home 2-3, but their 3-2 victory over them away to Monaco brought the game to penalties winning 5-3 and earning their place in the next round.

In the Round of 16, they got a more favourable draw beating Ferencváros 2-0 on both legs to qualify for the Quarter-Final. They recently earned their place in the Semi-Final drawing 1-1 with Union Saint-Gilloise and beating them 4-1 away.

In the semi-final they face a tough test in Roma for a place in the Final but with the likes of young talents like Patrik Schick and Jeremie Frimpong, they could go close.

Roma - 11/4

Managed by Jose Mourinho, a serial winner, they currently occupy fourth in the Serie A but find themselves in European contention again following their Europa Conference League victory during the 21/22 season.

Roma started their campaign in Europa League Group C with Real Betis, Ludogorets Razgrad and HJK. They would finish second in that group behind Betis on 16 points with 10 points and a record of two wins, one draw and two defeats and a goal difference of +4.

In the Knockout round playoffs, they lost their first leg to Red Bull Salzburg 1-0 away from home but overturned the defeat in the second leg with a 2-0 home win. They drew Real Sociedad in the Round of 16 beating them 2-0 at home and then drawing 0-0 away to qualify for the Quarter-Final.

In their most recent test, they overcame a 1-0 away defeat to Feyenoord in the first leg to win 4-1 after extra time in the second leg.

They now face Bayer Leverkusen in the next round for a place in their second European Final in a row. The Mourinho factor will be key along with the performances of players like Spinazzola, Abraham and Dybala.

Sevilla - 7/2

The Europa League Specialists and 6-time champions find themselves back in contention at the latter stages of the competition again despite their lacklustre league form which finds them currently in 13th place in La Liga.

Sevilla started their campaign in the Champions League by being drawn in Group G a group which included Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund and Copenhagen. They finished the group with a record of one win, two draws and three defeats with six goals scored and twelve conceded meaning they transferred to their favourite competition the Europa League following their third-place finish.

In the knockout round playoffs, they beat PSV 3-0 at home in the first leg and despite PSV winning 2-0 at home in the second leg they qualified for the next round.

They drew Fenerbahçe in the Round of 16 where they again won the first leg at home this time 2-0 and then qualifying for the next round despite losing the second leg 1-0. In their most recent test, they overcame Manchester United after coming back from 2-0 down in the first leg to draw 2-2 in the last ten minutes of the game before winning their second leg at home 3-0.

They now face Juventus in the next round for a chance to win their favourite competition again. Led by veterans like Rakitic and Naves you would be foolish to rule out the Europa League specialists.

We recently previewed the Champions League outright odds as Europe's premier club competition also heads for the semi-final stages.
