The Europa League final is set to take place on the 22nd of May at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin and following a dramatic Quarter-Final stage we look poised for an exciting game in the Emerald Isle no matter who makes the final.
The first Quarter-Final was an Italian affair with Roma led by Daniel De Rossi (who replaced Jose Mourinho) overcoming Milan by a 1-3 aggregate score. Liverpool were shocked 3-0 in the first leg by Atalanta and were unable to overcome the deficit losing out 1-3 on aggregate. Elsewhere Bundesliga champions Leverkusen defeated West Ham 3-1 and Marseille after a 2-2 aggregate score beat Benfica 2-4 on penalties.

Europa League 2023/24 Betting Favourites
Bayer Leverkusen
The new favourites for the 2023/24 Europa League are Bayer Leverkusen at odds of 4/5. Those odds imply that Bayer Leverkusen have a 55.6% chance of winning the title for the second time in their history and first since 1988.
Bayer Leverkusen have had a storming season under new-found managerial revelation Xabi Alonso bringing them from 6th last season to their first-ever Bundesliga title this year, it’s no surprise he’s been linked with the Real Madrid and Liverpool jobs.
Unsurprisingly, their Europa League campaign commenced emphatically with 6 wins from 6 against Qarabag, Molde and BK Hacken scoring 19 goals and only conceding 3 to advance to the round of 16. There they overcame playoff winners a familiar face in Qarabag in an entertaining 5-4 aggregate scoreline. They then booked their place into the Semi-Finals with a 3-1 aggregate win against West Ham.
They face Roma for a place in the final. But Leverkusen are the team of the moment now across Europe and it’s very difficult to see them being beaten.
Atalanta
Next up in the betting is Serie A side Atalanta at odds of 3/1 thus suggesting they have a 25% chance of landing a maiden Europa League title.
Atalanta, under Gian Piero Gasperini, are a consistent outfit, following a 5th finish last season in the league and a Quarter-Final Coppa-Italia finish. That was followed this year with the side currently 6th in the league in the Coppa Italia Semi-Finals albeit 1-0 from the first leg against Florentina along with a Europa League Semi-Final against Marseille.
They topped their initial Europa Group with Sporting CP, Sturm Graz and Rakow Częstochowa with 14 points, 12 goals and 4 conceded. They met Sporting again in the Round of 16 and overcame them 2-3 on aggregate. They booked their place in the Semi stage with a shock 3-1 aggregate win over Liverpool and now play Roma for a place in the final.
Their result against Liverpool shows they can overcome the best when at their best and I fancy them to reach the final.
Roma
The third favourite for the 2023/24 Europa League are Roma at odds of 9/2. Those odds imply that Bayern have an 18.2% chance of winning this season's competition.
Roma have been somewhat of a European Specialists in recent years, landing the Europa Conference League under Jose Mourinho during the 2021/22 season, they were then the bridesmaids in this competition last year losing to a certain Sevilla 4-1 on penalties. This year despite the departure of Mourinho in January they’re back in the business end of the competition under club legend Daniel De Rossi.
They started the campaign slowly finishing runner-up with 13 points 2 points behind Slavia Prague but ahead of Servette and Sheriff Tiraspol. At the playoff stage following 1-1 draws in both legs, they beat Feyenoord 2-4 on penalties. The Round of 16 proved an easier affair with a 4-1 aggregate win against Brighton before knocking Mila out 1-3 on aggregate in the latest round
Roma have only ever been runners-up in this competition (1991 and 2003) but have a fighting chance of finally reaching glory under De Rossi.
Marseille
The fourth favourite for the 2023/24 Europa League are Marseille at odds of 9/1. Those odds suggest that they have a 10% chance of winning this season's competition.
It’s not been the most positive of seasons for Marseille, falling from 3rd last season in Ligue 1 to currently 9th in the table. Thus, it’s not the most surprising to see they’re now onto their 4th manager of the season this time with Jean-Louis Gasset who most recently managed Ivory Coast at the helm.
Marseille came runner-up in their initial group with 11 points, 2 back of winners Brighton but ahead of Ajax and AEK Athens. That was followed by two successive 5-3 aggregate victories over Shakhtar Donetsk and Villereal in the playoffs and Round of 16 respectively. The Quarter-Final was another dramatic affair with it coming down to a 2-4 penalty win over Benfica.
Marseille are another who have only ever been runner-up (1999, 2004 and 2018). However, with former Arsenal striker Aubameyang currently top-scorer with 10 goals, who knows maybe they can shock a few more sides?
