Group G Preview - Euro 2024 Qualifiers

Hungary

Marco Rossi has been in charge of this country since 2018 and has a record of 23 victories, ten draws and sixteen defeats from his forty-nine games in charge. That record is good enough for a win ratio of 46.94%.

Hungary is no longer the force they were back in the 50s and 60s when they appeared in a World Cup final and had legends of the game like Ferenc Puskás playing for them. However, there have been signs in recent times that there could be a renaissance in Hungarian Football.

Despite being placed in a Nations League group which included Italy, Germany and England they were able to come second in the group with ten points, three wins, one draw and two defeats from their six matches, coming only one point behind Italy.

They may not be home to “Superstars” anymore but Hungary could prove that the sum of their parts are more than a match for any team. Hungary could be an interesting longshot bet at 150/1 to win the Euros in 2024 given their recent international form.

Serbia

The Serbians come into this qualifying campaign under the tutelage of coach Dragan Stojković who has been in charge since 2021. Stojković has a strong record of fifteen wins, five draws and only five defeats which is good enough for a win rate of 60%.

Surprisingly, despite being regulars at the World Cup Serbia has not qualified for a Euros since 2000 when they reached the quarterfinals. They come into this campaign in decent form after winning their Nations League Group and getting promoted to Group A.

Serbia failed to get out of their World Cup Group with Brazil, Cameroon and Switzerland. If the Serbians are to qualify for their first Euros in over twenty years their talisman Aleksandar Mitrović (28) will be key as he looks to improve on his phenomenal 52 goals in 79 games for his country.

You can back Serbia at 66/1 to land Euro 2024 glory.

Montenegro

Despite the successes of their sister nation Serbia, Montenegro has had poorer luck on the international stage and has yet to qualify for an international tournament.

Miodrag Radulović has been in charge since 2020 and in his sixteen matches he has a poor record of just four wins and three draws from sixteen matches and is now without a win in his last four matches.

It’ll take the best efforts of veteran forward Stevan Jovetić (33) who has thirty-one goals in sixty-five international games if Montenegro is going to have any chance of qualifying for their first-ever international tournament.

Bulgaria

The Bulgarians have been coached by Serbian Mladen Krstajić since he took charge in 2022. He has won an impressive three of his four matches beating Gibraltar 5-1, North Macedonia 1-0, Cyprus 2-0 and most recently drawing 1-1 vs Luxembourg.

The country will be looking to qualify for their first Euros since 2000 and will certainly fancy its chances in what looks like one of the most competitive qualifying groups.

This could be a breakout campaign for young Inter Milan attacking midfielder Nikola Iliev who at just 18 years of age could be one of Bulgaria's main players in the years to come.

Lithuania

The Lithuanians are coming into this qualifying campaign in some dismal form in 2022. Last year they played ten matches, losing seven, drawing two with their sole victory coming in a 2-1 win over San Marino at the start of the year.

Edgaras Jankauskas came in at the start of the year for his second period as manager of the nation, the first coming between 2016-2018 where he guided them to three wins, five draws and eighteen defeats.

They are up against it again to qualify but young Torino midfielder Gvidas Gineitis (18) could be a spark of light in their prospects.
