City of Troy Cut Into Favouritism
BoyleSports has cut City Of Troy into 5/2 favourite (from 4/1) for the Epsom Derby with sustained support seeing the 2000 Guineas flop return to the head of the market.
Having went off the well-backed 4/6 favourite for the opening Classic of the season, the Justify colt drifted out to 7/1 (from 6/4) for the Derby but as confident updates continue to pour out of Ballydoyle, punters have regained their faith in last year’s champion two-year-old.
Aidan O’Brien, who has already trained nine Epsom Derby winners, remains convinced that City Of Troy is the best horse he has ever sent to the Downs. At a recent press morning, the master of Ballydoyle said: “I'm not sure we've ever sent a horse to the Derby with as much ability as this.
“The Guineas wasn't meant to be and I feel myself that I hadn't him prepared properly but what we learned will hopefully help us prepare him properly for the Derby."
Dante Stakes Clues
Thursday’s Dante Stakes provided further clues in clearing up the Derby picture as Ancient Wisdom drifted out to 14/1 from 7/1 after finishing 6 lengths back of winner Economics at York.

Brian O’Keeffe, spokesperson for BoyleSports, said:
“We saw Aidan O’Brien work his magic on Auguste Rodin to win the Derby last year after he disappointed in the Guineas, and confidence appears to be sky high among Ballydoyle and the punters that we’ll see City Of Troy do similar this year.”
