Eddie Howe is being backed to make a return to the Premier League in the vacant dugout at Crystal Palace after a proposed move to Celtic fell through.

The former Bournemouth boss was believed to be on the verge of becoming Neil Lennon’s permanent replacement,""

...but the Glasgow club confirmed on Friday that Howe had rejected the opportunity due to ‘reasons outwith both his and our control.’

The mysterious collapse of the deal has triggered a gamble on Howe instead getting the nod to replace Roy Hodgson at Selhurst Park as he was slashed into 2/1 from 10/1 on Friday evening.

That puts him hot on the heels of Burnley boss Sean Dyche, who remains the narrow favourite despite being eased to 7/4 from 5/4 after the increase in support for Howe.
