A County Waterford punter is celebrating a satisfying four-figure bonanza after a successful Saturday flutter on the horses.
The anonymous Déise customer struck a €10 trixie in a BoyleSports shop in the county, picking two horses at Sandown and a third at York.
The dream was nearly dashed at the first hurdle but 8/1 shot Brilliant Light shaded the 2.05 at Sandown by a short head, while there was only a neck between 8/1 selection First Winter and defeat in the 3.15 the same track.
But with two victories, attention turned to the big race of the day, where 11/2 shot Fujaira Prince became only the second favourite since 1998 to win the Ebor at York.
That clicked the ambitious wager and triggered a tasty total payout of €7,245.

It only took three horses for our Waterford customer to walk away with over €7,000 but fair play to them for picking them out. We hope they enjoy a well-deserved treat.""
