With final preparation for the Rose of Tralee underway, there is plenty of speculation about the future of beloved host Dáithi Ó’Sé.

Reports have come out in the past week that the Kerry native may be considering swapping the Tralee dome for a seat in the Dáil. You can now bet on the political future of Ó’Sé at BoyleSports with the odds indicating his chances of being on the ballot paper come the next general election.

Dáithi Ó’Sé Odds To Run In Next General Election

A surprising switch to politics remains unlikely for Dáithí Ó’Sé for the time being according to odds of 7/1 with BoyleSports that he will run in the next general election.

The Rose of Tralee presenter has more immediate duties to address this week as he hosts the finale of the annual pageant on Tuesday evening, but Ó’Sé is the latest celebrity to be linked to a radical career change after admitting he wouldn’t rule out running for office sometime in the future.

Former RTÉ Pal Gráinne Seoige Backed To Run For Fianna Fáil

Former jockey Nina Carberry and ex-RTÉ Radio host Cynthia Ní Mhurchú both won seats in the European Parliament in June, while TV star Gráinne Seoige is seeking a nomination from Fianna Fáíl to run in Galway West when voters go to the polls in the coming months.

Seoige is a more likely candidate at odds of 1/6 to end up on the ballot paper, while odds of 1/25 suggest she’d be a shoo-in to win a seat if she runs.

Irish punters would get rich however if either of the TV stars take up the highest office in the land, with Dáithí a 500/1 shot to be Taoiseach before 2025 and Gráinne available at 200/1.

Lawrence Lyons, Spokesperson for BoyleSports commented:

“Michael Healy-Rae doesn’t want Dáithí Ó’Sé standing in Kerry and the odds suggest he’s safe for now, but we’re on guard with the growing trend of TV presenters taking a punt at the polls.”
