Dublin have had a couple tests on their way to their first All-Ireland Football Final appearance since 2020. The most recent of those tests came against Monaghan in the All-Ireland semi-final where the game was level going into the final 10 minutes of regulation.
That was when Dublin turned the screw as they so often do. The Boys in Blue were composed in the dying minutes to put 7 points between themselves and Monaghan by the time the full-time whistle blew. That margin wasn’t indicative of how hardly fought this game was.
The most impressive outing of this year’s Championship for Dublin came against old foes Mayo. The two teams traded scores back-and-forth in the first half of that game but the second half was a different story. The Dubs blitzed the westerners in that second period in an awesome display of their attacking firepower. 12 points was the margin of victory in the end.
Dublin will know they need to replicate something similar to that second half performance against Mayo to win this year’s final. If they perform like they did against Monaghan then they will be in trouble.

Kerry were incredible on their route to the All-Ireland Final and subsequent All-Ireland title last year. Their path to the 2023 All-Ireland Final has been a little different.
The Kingdom have struggled at times this year. A poor league campaign was compounded by an opening round All-Ireland series loss at the hands of Mayo in Killarney. That was their first Championship loss in Killarney since 1995. Cork were next and they gave Kerry a massive scare although they would prevail by two points for a crucial victory.
Worry was beginning to set in amongst Kerry folk at this stage. What had happened to the team that dominated gaelic football in 2022 and looked destined to be the team of the 2020s?
The All-Ireland Quarter-Final draw wasn’t kind to The Kingdom as they were given a date with old foes Tyrone. Many fancied the ulster men to pull off the upset against a Kerry side that had struggled to that point.
As it turned out Kerry reminded us just how good they are when on form as they blitzed Tyrone in the second half to earn a 12-point win and a place in the All-Ireland semi-final.
The semi-final against Derry was a highly anticipated game. The two teams traded scores back and forth in a classic game at HQ. Kerry weren’t at their best for large periods, or weren’t allowed to be to give Derry the credit they deserve.
The Oak Leaf county were up a point with 67 minutes on the clock and really they should have been ahead by more were they not so wasteful with their second half shooting. In the dying minutes it was Kerry that held their nerve to hold on for a 2-point win and a second consecutive appearance in the All-Ireland Final.
Much like Dublin will need to improve on their performance against Monaghan, the same goes for Kerry who will need to play better than they did against Derry to win this year’s final.
Kerry - Evens
The Draw - 13/2
Kerry go into the 2023 All-Ireland Football Final as the marginal favourites at odds of Evens. That means that Dublin are marginally underdogs at odds of 6/5 to win this match in 70 minutes. Meanwhile the draw after 70 minutes (at the full-time whistle) can be backed at 8/1.
Dublin - Evens
In the all important to lift the Sam Maguire odds Kerry are the marginal favourites at odds of 4/5 while Dublin are underdogs at Evens odds. The All-Ireland Final will not go to penalties unless the teams are level after extra-time of a replay. If teams are level at extra-time the first day the game will then go to a replay.
Kerry: -1 @ 6/5
Handicap Draw: +1 @ 8/1
Dublin 1-18 Kerry 0-15 | All-Ireland Final replay 2019

Dublin 0-22 Kerry 2-14 | All-Ireland Semi-Final 2016
Dublin 0-12 Kerry 0-09 | All-Ireland Final 2015
It is expected to be a largely overcast day on Sunday for the game.
I’m predicting that Dublin will beat Kerry by three points and win this year’s All-Ireland Football Final. I think this is a much better Dublin team than last year while Kerry appear to have regressed from the level they were at in 2022.
