DRF Day 2 Tips
Dublin Racing Festival Day 2 Tips: 7 Sunday Predictions
Leopardstown 12:40 Tip
LEOPARDSTOWN 12:40 – GALILEO DAME
Joseph O’Brien’s mare has a big weight to carry but could have the class to cope, judged on last year’s close second to Hello Neighbour in the Grade One Juvenile Hurdle at this two-day meeting and a decent Cheltenham Festival effort.
Leopardstown 13:10 Tip
LEOPARDSTOWN 13:10 – FINAL DEMAND
Willie Mullins has made no secret of just how highly he rates this seven-year-old, and he has so far justified that faith with his performances on the track.
A dual Grade One scorer over hurdles, including an impressive strike on this weekend 12 months ago, Final Demand has done all that has been asked of him in two novice chase victories, with another top-tier triumph coming at Limerick over Christmas.
Leopardstown 13:40 Tip
LEOPARDSTOWN 13:40 – TALK THE TALK
Following wins at Limerick and Fairyhouse, this well-bred five-year-old looked all set to complete a hat-trick in Grade One company here over the festive period until he stumbled and parted company with his jockey after the final flight.
How he will handle heavy ground is an unknown quantity, but Talk The Talk has plenty of stamina in his pedigree and can hopefully gain compensation in the Tattersalls Ireland Novice Hurdle.
Leopardstown 14:10 Tip
LEOPARDSTOWN 14:10 - ENERGUMENE
Ground conditions will give this valiant veteran a great chance of rolling back the years in the Dublin Chase, a race Mullins monopolised for seven straight renewals until last season’s success for Solness.
That rival is back to defend his title and will be a tough opponent, alongside Marine Nationale and Majborough, but Energumene has proven he can thrive in testing conditions, including when landing the 2021 Irish Arkle over this course and distance, and is far from finished at the age of 12.
Leopardstown 14:45 Tip
LEOPARDSTOWN 14:45 - BUACHAILLBOCHT
The JP McManus-owned gelding did not enjoy a smooth passage at a crucial point when a beaten favourite at this venue over Christmas, but is worth sticking with as he bids to recoup those losses.
Leopardstown 15:20 Tip
LEOPARDSTOWN 15:20 - PONIROS
The Irish Champion Hurdle is in all likelihood a match between Lossiemouth and Brighterdaysahead, but our selection has upset the odds before and could give the big two something to think about at a price.
A shock winner of the Triumph Hurdle, only the exceptional Lulamba stopped him from following up at Punchestown. In the same colours as the venerable Energumene, he has winning form on heavy ground on the Flat.
Leopardstown 15:52 Tip
LEOPARDSTOWN 15:52 – A DREAM TO SHARE
Things have not gone to plan for the eight-year-old since his Champion Bumper wins at Cheltenham and Punchestown three years ago, but he put in his best effort for some time when third at the latter venue on New Year’s Eve and is on a nice mark if able to build on that.
Leopardstown 16:27 Tip
LEOPARDSTOWN 16:27 – CELESTIAL TUNE
All of the major yards are represented by promising types in the concluding bumper, but Thomas Cooper’s charge has already done it on the track by following up last season’s Punchestown Festival second with impressive strikes at
