Corach Rambler Winning the 2023 Aintree Grand National with Jockey Derek Fox

Derek Fox will not be lacking for confidence in his horse, Corach Rambler, in this Saturday’s Aintree Grand National.

All eyes will be on the pair as Corach Rambler is the favourite for the race as he bids to win two-in-a-row and emulate the great Tiger Roll.

Jockey Derek Fox, a two-time Grand National winner, spoke exclusively to us here at BoyleSports ahead of the world’s most famous race and gave us his insight into Corach Rambler’s chances this Saturday plus explained what makes him such a great horse.

I Have Confidence That Corach Rambler Can Emulate Tiger Roll and Win Back-To-Back Nationals

Yes, I think so and also hope so. All you can do is prepare him well and go into the race with everything as right as possible.

His run in the Gold Cup gives me real confidence that he is fit and well and feels on top form. With luck in running, I think he can win the National again.

*Corach Rambler is the 5/1 favourite to win the 2024 Aintree Grand National according to the latest horse racing odds at BoyleSports.

It Doesn’t Make a Difference to Me if I Am Riding an English or Irish Horse

It is what it is. It doesn’t make a difference to me whether I am riding an English or Irish horse. You can only ride one horse and I am just happy to take them all on.

Corach Rambler Every Bit As Good As He Was Last Year

It was to be expected to carry more weight this year after the Gold Cup run. I think he is still capable off of this year’s rating, we will just have to give it a go.

It will be harder with that weight but he couldn’t be coming into the race any better off the back of a really good run at Cheltenham, he is every bit as good as he was last year.

Corach Rambler Is a Great Character

He is a great character. He is ultra friendly and easygoing, but also a very classy horse when it comes down to racing.

He always shows his ability at home and on the track and has such a lovely nature, which is rare.

Very Special to Be A Two-Time Winner of the Grand National

It is unbelievable to say I am a two-time winner of the Grand National. When you set out to be a jockey, you want to be successful. To win the most famous race of them all is very special to be able to say.

There’s No Secret to Winning the Grand National

I don’t do anything different, you have to have the horse underneath you in any race. In the National maybe you need a bit more luck with all the runners, and for things to go your way during the race.

Luckily for me, the two horses I’ve won on were clever and able to negotiate the circuit.

Both One for Arthur or Corach Rambler Were Special Horses to Ride for Different Reasons When Winning the National

Both were pretty special. As horses, Corach Rambler would have a bit more tactical speed, a bit more raw attitude about him.

One For Arthur didn’t have a high cruising speed, he just had one speed and it took a lot of time for him to warm up. You could be sure he was going to be slow through the first mile but you just had to ride him accordingly.

Corach Rambler just travels that wee bit easier and has a bit more pace.

The Grand National An Iconic Race

My first racing memory is watching the Grand National as a young boy in Ireland. I have always watched it from a very young age, it is very important, an iconic race in the world. The style of the green fences are unique and it is a great spectacle.

The thrill of them watching Becher’s for the first time was a great memory, not who won the race. It really gets your adrenaline up just to watch it.
