Scotland begin their quest to reach the World Cup finals for the first time since 1998 with a tough trip to Denmark, and could struggle in Copenhagen.

The Danes have won eight of their last nine home matches, with only a 2-1 defeat against Spain blotting their copybook.

Switzerland, Serbia and Portugal all lost Nations League fixtures at Parken Stadium in the past year, the first couple of those contests ending 2-0 and the other 1-0.

We like 6/5 for a home win and under 3.5 goals in the game for our opening Denmark vs Scotland prediction.

These teams also met in a World Cup 2022 qualifying group, with each country prevailing 2-0 in front of their own fans.

Daniel Wass and Joakim Maehle struck inside the first quarter of an hour in Copenhagen, while John Souttar and Che Adams did the damage for Scotland at Hampden Park.

Denmark were already assured of top spot in the pool at that point, though, while the Scots finished second but lost out to Ukraine in the play-offs.

Looking at the Denmark vs Scotland odds, it is 6/1 for another 2-0 home success here.

Form Guide

Denmark Form Guide

The Danes reached the last 16 at Euro 2024, drawing with England, Serbia and Slovenia during the group stage before going down 2-0 to Germany.

They then finished as runners-up behind Spain in a top-level Nations League pool prior to losing out in extra-time after a two-legged quarter-final with Portugal.

Denmark enjoyed a friendly double in June, coming from behind to edge out Northern Ireland 2-1 before thumping Lithuania 5-0.

Christian Eriksen is a notable absentee from the current squad, but there are still a number of experienced individuals present in a rock-solid spine, including Celtic keeper Kasper Schmeichel, Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen and former Spurs midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, now with Marseille.

Up front, Kasper Dolberg will be looking to celebrate his deadline day return to Ajax after netting in five of his nine appearances for Anderlecht this term.

With fellow forward Rasmus Hojlund lacking match sharpness, Dolberg is backed at 9/2 to break the deadlock in our Denmark vs Scotland betting tips.

Scotland Form Guide

The Scots have broken the mould by making it to the last two European Championships, but picked up just one point on each occasion.

Last year's Nations League results were mixed, losing their first three matches but then drawing with Portugal before beating Croatia and Poland.

Despite a 1-0 away win over Greece in the first leg of the relegation play-offs, Scotland suffered a crushing 3-0 Glasgow defeat in the return fixture to go down.

There was a similar inconsistent theme to June's friendlies, with a 3-1 home loss to Iceland followed by a 4-0 triumph in Liechtenstein.

Che Adams, now with Torino, hit a hat-trick there and is 7/2 to get on the scoresheet again here.
