The last five renewals of the World Cup of Darts have each produced different winners and another fascinating tournament is on the cards in Frankfurt . With the opening round of group-stage fixtures taking place on Thursday, we’re examining the favourites for outright glory and have ranked our top six teams in reverse order .
Wales
6. Wales @ 20/1
Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton combined to lift this trophy in 2020 and 2023 and have twice been runners-up together , but with The Iceman missing this year’s tournament, the Ferret may find it tougher going alongside new team-mate Nick Kenny .
Germany
5. Germany @ 18/1
Martin Schindler and Ricardo Pietreczko upset the odds by knocking out England at the last-16 stage 12 months ago and got the better of Australia in a titanic quarter-final tussle before being hammered by Northern Ireland in the semis . Home advantage makes them dangerous again.
Scotland
4. Scotland @ 14/1
Gary Anderson has a fine record in this event, prevailing in 2019 and qualifying for three other finals, and heads to Frankfurt buoyed by this year’s World Championship semi-final appearance and a decent run at the UK Open . Out-of-sorts regular partner Peter Wright is replaced by Cameron Menzies.

England | 1/2 | 66.7% |
Netherlands | 6/1 | 14.3% |

Northern Ireland
3. Northern Ireland @ 14/1
The defending champions came through a dramatic decider last year, edging out Wales 10-9 , and will be determined to retain their title . Josh Rock struggled in the Premier League but reached the UK Open semis and won the recent Austrian Open , where he beat team-mate Daryl Gurney at the last-four stage.
Netherlands
2. Netherlands @ 6/1
The Dutch are second in terms of past victories on four, but the most recent of those triumphs came in 2018, when Michael van Gerwen and Raymond van Barneveld made it back-to-back titles .
Van Gerwen goes into this tournament on a high after he battled past Luke Humphries in a last-leg decider to claim the Nordic Darts Masters title in Copenhagen , stating: “It is always nice to have a win behind your name again.”
Mighty Mike’s partner here is Gian van Veen , who showed his class when reaching the 2026 World Championship final but hasn’t quite been at that level of late.
England
1. England @ 1/2
The two Lukes will be fired up to atone for last year’s early exit and are hard to oppose after Littler’s World Championship, World Masters and UK Open wins and their one-two finish in the Premier League.
Humphries teamed up with Michael Smith to secure England’s fifth World Cup of Darts success two years ago and returns to Frankfurt in rock-solid form after recovering from a patchy start to the season.
Both of England’s superstar pairing have admitted to being affected by unfavourable crowd reactions in recent tournaments, but if on song, they look a class apart and more than capable of silencing the boo-boys!
