Rocky remains without a win this season, but there have been clear signs of improvement in his form. The Northern Irishman celebrated a nine-dart finish in Belfast a fortnight ago and averaged 103.72 in a 6-4 loss to Littler last week.

The UK Open brought more encouraging evidence of an upturn in fortunes, with Rock reaching the semis and leading Littler 5-1 at one point, before ultimately going down 11-9. Bunting was the Night 4 winner but has otherwise suffered four early exits, so Rock gets the nod at 7/10 to break his duck in our Premier League Darts Night 6 predictions.

Clayton has been easily the most consistent performer in this competition so far and heads to Nottingham with a five-point lead at the top of the table. The Ferret has yet to suffer a quarter-final defeat and reached his second decider in Cardiff last Thursday, seeing off Gian van Veen and Luke Humphries before making Littler work hard for victory.

Van Veen suffered a double blip last week, losing first up in this competition and then crashing out of the UK Open at the last-64 stage at the hands of Rob Cross.

However, the Giant’s overall Premier League form has been good enough to reach three finals, and he does have a great head-to-head record against Humphries , winning seven of their eight encounters over the past 12 months ago. Humphries has done us a few favours with his consistent quarter-final displays, but this may be the time to desert Cool Hand Luke and take the value option of 11/10 for Van Veen.

Littler followed up a much-needed Cardiff triumph by retaining his UK Open title in Minehead , but it was far from a vintage display as he edged out Rock in the semis after a slow start and then held off James Wade 11-7 in the final. “There was a lot of close games throughout this tournament, and I wasn’t at my best at times,” admitted The Nuke. “I missed far too many doubles that I would have liked to hit.”
