Cork and the Curragh stage the action domestically this afternoon and while there is one good looking bet at Cork the main focus of attention is going to come at the Curragh where the €100,000 Irish Cambridgeshire is the feature event.
Cromwell Can Strike Again
Trainer Gavin Cromwell is looking to win the Irish Cambridgeshire for a second time when saddling course and...
Cromwell won the race with Sretaw two seasons ago and with a lot to look forward to for the winter with the likes of Jer’s Girl, Cromwell can snare this big flat prize with the likeable six-year-old.
Breathe Easy has been a good servant for owner Everina Kilfeather and although the Cambridgeshire is one of his toughest assignments to date, he might just be a horse who can put in a career best to claim it. He clearly likes the Curragh and on his first start for Cromwell, Breathe Easy put up a very impressive performance back in June and Ronan Whelan is a good booking.
I will be fascinated to see how Parish Boy gets on for Jim Bolger and Kevin Manning. He twice beat Order Of St George but has been troubled with niggles to keep him off the track so only ran once last year and that was in a Classic trial in April. Off a mark of 101 he looks like he could be well treated but the question mark is whether that will be on this occasion. Still, at 20/1 he is probably overpriced.
Hogan To Keep Up His Good Run
You can have a lie on this Sunday and not miss today’s bet because 20-minutes after the Irish Cambridgeshire the second bet will line up at 5.20 in the bumper at Cork where Nulife is expected to keep up the fantastic run of form of trainer Denis Hogan.
Just seven of the 13 horses declared in the concluding race have had a previous run and in finishing eighth and fourth, Nulife has progressed with each outing and Hogan has booked Jamie Codd for the ride.
The run behind two-time winner Mountain Rock was creditable on debut and without having an ideal time of things at Roscommon earlier in the month the horse still stayed on to finish fourth, not beaten that far so hopefully this is the time for him to open his account at the third time of asking.
Recommended Bets:
Breathe Easy (12/1) - 5.00 Curragh
Nulife (3/1) - 5.20 Cork

distance winner Breathe Easy on Sunday but the 12/1 shot looks to have strong claims of doing so.
