Cork v Dublin Preview
Cork’s Form
At the beginning of 2025, Cork took Division 1A in the National Hurling League by storm with a record of 4 wins, 1 draw, and 1 loss, which meant they finished 1 point behind Tipperary in the initial league phase. In that final, they avenged their earlier defeat to Tipperary to win, 0-23 to 3-24 for a 10-point victory.
Following their league success, some saw them as All-Ireland winners in waiting, and after an opening draw away to Clare in the Munster Championship, 3-21 to 2-24. Cork announced themselves as serious contenders this time with another trouncing of Tipperary, this time 4-27 to -0-24 for a 15-point win. Limerick sent them a reality check in the next game, though, battering them by a staggering 16 points in an abject display. Had it not been for their 6-point win over Waterford in their Championship campaign would have been over prematurely.
There were huge questions about what Cork we would see performing when they returned to the Gaelic Grounds to play Limerick in the Munster Final. What followed was a classic game where they had drawn 2-27 to 1-30 AET before they won out dramatically 2-3 on penalties.
Dublin’s Form
Dublin commenced their season in unspectacular fashion, finishing in third place in the National Hurling League 1B following a record of 4 wins and 2 defeats. They failed to reach the final and, by extension, were not promoted, meaning they will be in the second tier next season too.
Their Leinster Championship campaign started strongly, though they reversed the result from the league when they were beaten 1-23 to 0-27 by Offaly, to beat them in a 1-25 to 2-19 game at Parnell Park. That was followed by a win 0-19 to 3-25 against Antrim. However, losses against Kilkenny 5-19 to 3-21 and 3-15 to 0-29 against Galway meant they exited they went into the preliminary quarter finals.
They made light work of Kildare in the preliminary quarter finals at Newbridge, winning by 21 points in a comprehensive 0-13 to 3-25 showing. A date with Limerick was set, where it was seen as a formality that they’d be knocked out at the quarter-final stage. However, what followed was arguably the performance of the Championship (for any side) so far, and they shocked Limerick with a 0-28 to 2-24 win.
Key Players To Watch
Patrick Horgan - Cork
Cork captain and talisman Patrick Horgan is in a battle with Mother Time if he’s to land an elusive All-Ireland title, and this season may be his final season with the county. However, he’s yet to miss a step, still crucial to Cork's challenge, and his tally of 3-42 puts him fourth in the top Championship scorers, with none of his teammates in the top 18.
In the Munster Final, he hit a tally of 0-7, and his scores remain crucial for Cork if they’re to end their All-Ireland drought.

Sean Currie - Dublin
A member of the Na Fianna club in Glasnevin Centre-forward Currie first came to prominence at schools' level with the combined Dublin North team that won the Leinster Colleges Championship in 2018. He joined the Dublin Senior Hurling squad in 2021, but this has been his best season yet, with his tally of 4-61 putting him level at the top of the scoring charts with Cathal Mannion, who scored 2-67 before Galway were knocked out.
Currie hit 0-9 in their win over Limerick, but similar and more will be needed here if Dublin are to stand any chance of success.

Cork v Dublin Prediction & Best Bet
Cork will be looking to reach their third All-Ireland Final in five years if they can overcome Dublin, but when they’re favourites, that’s often when complacency comes.
Dublin set their stall with a shock win over Limerick and will go into this game with nothing to lose and everything to gain against the odds.
Cork are heavy favourites with good reason, but I think it will be a far closer game than the odds market would suggest.
Prediction: Cork 1-25 Dublin 2-20
