BoyleSports has chalked up the Crumlin native at odds of 4/1 to run in the next General election and odds of 8/1 that he’ll run for President.

The fighter has been very vocal on X following Thursday night’s riots in Dublin and has publicly criticised a number of politicians including Tánaiste Micheál Martin who he called “worthless” and “spineless”. He went even further threatening that if “they [the Government] do not act soon with their plan of action to ensure Ireland’s safety, I will”, leading many to believe that Conor could fancy his chances running for office.

However, whilst the odds are short enough on McGregor to run in the next election and run for the Áras, it’s unlikely that he’ll actually be voted in by the Irish people. The odds on him being elected as a TD in the next election are 8/1 with BoyleSports while it’s a long-shot at 200/1 that he’ll step into Michael D Higgins’ shoes.

McGregor, whose career looks close to over after losing three of his last four bouts (two to Dustin Poirier and one to Khabib Nurmagomedov), hasn’t been seen in the octagon since 2021. Since breaking his leg in 2021, the former UFC Featherweight and Lightweight Champion, has been spending most of his time building up a business empire releasing his Proper 12 whiskey and Forged Irish Stout as well as buying a local boozer in his hometown of Dublin 12.

A spokesperson for BoyleSports said: “We don’t know what is in McGregor’s stout, but clearly he’s very bullish about being the man to bring about change in Ireland. One thing is for sure though, with it being over two years since he entered the octagon and with all his money, he’d certainly have enough time on his hands and financial clout to run a noisy campaign. We can almost see the campaign slogan now – ‘we’re not here to take part, we’re here to take over!’”

McGregor to try his hand at Politics?
4/1 To run in the next Irish General Election
8/1 To run for next Irish President
10/1 To be elected as a TD in the next Irish General Election
200/1 To take over from Michael D Higgins as President of Ireland.
