2023 started impressively for Cork when they topped Division 1 Group A with a record of 4 wins and 1 draw to finish 1 point ahead of runner-up in the league phase Clare. Cork would come unstuck in the League Semi-Final losing to Kilkenny by a 0-22 to 2-22 scoreline. However, despite the initial promise their season ended on a whimper following a 4th finish in Munster following a record of 1 win, 1 draw and 2 losses.

What a rollercoaster of a season it has been for supporters of “The Rebels” After 2 defeats in their opening games in the Munster Championship their All-Ireland aspirations were dangling by the finest of threads but after a thrilling 3-28 to 3-26 win over Limerick and a 1-21 to 4-30 demolition of Tipperary results went their way and they’ve gone from strength to strength since. Momentum could be very well with them after knocking Limerick in the Semi-Final, but there is also a fear that they have played their final before the final takes place.

Cork are worthy favourites following their win over Limerick but will have to guard against the complacency they came into the 2013 Final with. This will be an extremely close game and I wouldn’t be surprised if we see another replay. But sticking my neck on the line I think Cork pull through with the narrowest of wins!
