In this post, we bring you Cillian Murphy Oscar odds as the Irish Actor has been nominated for the most prestigious prize in acting.
Cillian Murphy Oscar Odds
Cillian Murphy is the 1/25 favourite to win the Best Actor Oscar according to the latest Oscars betting odds at BoyleSports. Those odds imply that the Cork native has a 96.2% chance of lifting the Best Actor statuette in Beverly Hills on Sunday night.
If he wins he would be the first Irish actor to win the Best Actor Academy Award since Daniel Day-Lewis (English born with both British and Irish citizenship) won the award for the 3rd time in 2012 for his portrayal of Abraham Lincoln in the film Lincoln .
Best Actor Oscar Betting Odds
Actor | Odds | Chance of Winning |
---|---|---|
Cillian Murphy (Oppenheimer) | 1/25 | 96.2% |
Paul Giamatti (The Holdovers) | 10/1 | 9.1% |
Bradley Cooper (Maestro) | 25/1 | 3.8% |
Colman Domingo (Rustin) | 100/1 | 1% |
Jeffrey Wright (American Fiction) | 125/1 | 0.8% |
Having claimed victory at the BAFTAs, the Screen Actors Guild and the Golden Globes, Murphy has already had a fruitful awards season but did miss out to Paul Giamatti at the Critics Choice Awards, where Giamatti won the Best Actor gong for his role as Classics teacher Paul Hunham in The Holdovers .
Giamatti remains unlikely to spring another surprise at the 96th Academy Awards however, as he is rated as the distant second favourite to Murphy, at odds of 11/2, while Bradley Cooper is 14/1 to break his Oscars duck, on what is his twelfth nomination across all categories.
While a number of movies have been well received by critics this year, Christopher Nolan’s biopic Oppenheimer looks set to continue its explosive awards season and is the red-hot 1/50 favourite to land the Best Picture award this weekend.
Receiving a total of thirteen nominations, Oppenheimer could break the all-time Oscars record of eleven awards, which is jointly held by Ben-Hur , Titanic , and Lord of the Rings: Return of the King . With Nolan heading up yet another Hollywood blockbuster, he is a 1/100 shot to claim what would unbelievably be his first Oscar as Best Director
Brian O’Keeffe, spokesperson for BoyleSports, said:
“Cillian Murphy is a near certainty to lift the Best Actor gong at this weekend’s Academy Awards if the betting is right, as Oppenheimer prepares for a huge night where director Christoper Nolan could finally get his hands on a first Oscar.”
