Gold Cup and Grand National winning jockey Robbie Power has played down the form of favourite Constitution Hill who has been heavily backed to start the Cheltenham Festival by winning the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle.

Nicky Henderson’s charge replaced stablemate Jonbon at the top of the antepost market at 2/1 from 7/2 following his win in the Tolworth Hurdle, but Power reckons a strong Irish challenge should not be ruled out. Have a watch, below!

"Both Constitution Hill and Jonbon rightly or wrongly are top of the market, but I think their form lacks strength and depth when you consider Mighty Potter is a Grade One winner and My Mate Mozzie was just touched off in a Grade One," says Robbie.

“Sir Gerhard is the value bet for me in the antepost at 5/1. I think he is overpriced at those odds. He is a Champion Bumper winner and was very impressive in his maiden hurdle.

"If he goes to the Dublin Racing Festival and wins the 2-mile Novice Hurdle there, then he will be half the price he is now.

“Constitution Hill was hugely impressive in the Tolworth Hurdle, but that’s a race that emphasises stamina and you can question the form of what he beat in testing conditions.

“The conditions in the Supreme are going to be very different. Jonbon won a muddling race at Ascot and I think they are both too short for what they have achieved at this stage of their careers, while Sir Gerhard is already a Grade One winner at Cheltenham.

"Mighty Potter is the horse for me to take out of the Royal Bond and represents each-way value at 14/1 as he is progressive and will keep improving.”
