There have been some changes to race times for Day 2 of the Cheltenham Festival along with one race cancellation.

Cheltenham Day 2 Revised Times
1.45 pm (was 1.30 pm) Gallagher Novices’ Hurdle (formerly the Ballymore and registered as the Baring Bingham)
2.30 pm (was 2.10 pm) Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase
3.15 pm (was 2.50 pm) Coral Cup Handicap Hurdle
4.00 pm (was 3.30 pm) Queen Mother Champion Chase
4.50 pm (no change) Grand Annual Chase
5.30 pm (no change) Champion Bumper
What Race At Cheltenham Was Cancelled?
The Cross Country Chase has been cancelled. The race had been scheduled for an off time of 4.10 pm on Tuesday during Day 2 of the Festival but officials decided that the race could not go ahead under current ground conditions.
Why Was The Cross Country Chase Cancelled?
The Cross Country Chase was cancelled as ground officials at Cheltenham deemed that it was unsafe to run the race due to current ground conditions on the Cross Country Course at Cheltenham.
Speaking on ITV4 this morning, here’s what Jon Pullin, the clerk of the course at Cheltenham, said about the decision to abandon the race: “The ground moves under your feet and water comes up and we have no choice but to abandon.”
Why Have Race Times Changed For Day 2 of Cheltenham?
As a result of the Cross Country Chase being abandoned, the decision was made to change the race times for the first 4 races today to avoid leaving a big gap from the end of the Champion Chase to the Grand Annual Chase.
If the other race times were not adjusted there would have been a gap of 1 hour and 20 minutes between the start of the Champion Chase and the start of the Grand Annual Chase. Cheltenham officials wanted to avoid having such a big gap between the racing action and so adjusted the time of each race instead by a few minutes to prevent a big gap.
