Unbeaten mare Honeysuckle has been backed further to retain her Champion Hurdle crown at the Cheltenham Festival next month after completing a hat-trick of Irish Champion Hurdles at the Dublin Racing Festival.
Rachael Blackmore’s mount was given a rapturous reception from the Leopardstown crowd even before the off and they weren’t let down as she cruised to the front to deliver a 14th consecutive victory and tenth at Grade 1 level.
The superstar mare was already an odds-on favourite at 8/13 for the Champion Hurdle but is now an even shorter 1/2 with BoyleSports ahead of 5/1 Appreciate It.

Galopin des Champs is also being backed heavily to land a Novices’ Chase victory at the Festival after enhancing his credentials further with a spectacular win earlier on the Leopardstown card.
Willie Mullins’ charge backed up an impressive chasing debut at the same track over Christmas with a 9-length victory which never looked in doubt, especially when stablemate Capodanno unseated his rider at the fifth.
His status as favourite in the 3-mile Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase has strengthened at 11/10 from 6/4, while the latest betting for the shorter Turners Novices’ Chase also saw the six-year-old clipped into 15/8 from 5/2.

Sir Gerhard overcame a questionable round of jumping to become the sixth consecutive favourite to score at Sunday’s meeting and has since shortened into 3/1 favourite from 9/2 for the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle and 4/1 from 9/2 for the Supreme.
