Chelsea v PSG Preview
Chelsea’s Form
Chelsea are always volatile but are never too far away from success either especially considering the amount of money invested into the club season-by-season relative to almost every other club in World Football. In 24/25, they secured a return to the Champions League for next season by finishing 4th in the Premier League. They also won a trophy following their Europa Conference League final victory over Real Betis.
Given the amount of investment and signings into the club, it’s no surprise that Enzo Maresca has a seemingly never-ending depth in his squad to choose from. The hardest thing for him is to find a balance with the bloated squad that can best maximise success. It seems like he’s getting closer to it, though midfield pivot of Lavia and Caicedo, and attacking talent like Neto, Nkunku and Palmer, now joined by Pedro.
They opened the Club World Cup with a 2-0 win over LAFC after goals from Neto and Fernandez. Though they were then beaten in their second group game 3-1 by Flamengo, with their sole goal coming from an opener from Neto in the game, they were outshot, out-passed and generally outplayed. However, they secured their passage into the knockout stages with a 0-3 win over de Tunis after goals from Adarbioyo, Delap and George.
For the Round of 16 stage, they were drawn against Benfica and though the game did go to extra-time following Di-Maria’s 95th-minute penalty equaliser, which cancelled out James’ 64th 64th-minute goal. In AET, Chelsea took control and eventually ran out 1-4 winners after goals from Nkunku, Neto and Drewsbury-Hall. A brace from Pedro in the semi-final was enough to book their place in the final.
The biggest issue for Chelsea in this game will be how they stifle the PSG attack. This young Chelsea side will need to be disciplined if they’re to stand any chance of a shock win.

PSG’s Form
What a season it has been for PSG! Though they had the high-profile departure of Superstar Mbappe, along with some of his previous supporting cast, including Ugarte and Simons. The Pre-Season decision to go with an initial small, close-knit squad before the key additions of Safonov, Neves, Pacho, Doué and Kvaratskhelia (in January). That January window was enough to assemble a squad which has already landed a quadruple of success this season, including finally landing an elusive Champions League victory when they hammered Inter 5-0 in the final.
Though a few “Superstars” have departed PSG in recent seasons, given the vast array of investment that the current squad has received and continues to do so, it’s no surprise that their squad is arguably the most rounded in World Football. The attack gets the bulk of attention in defence, they’ve arguably the best Keeper and RB in World Football with Donnarumma and Hakimi, and the midfield three of Ruiz, Vithina, and Neves strike the perfect balance.
PSG opened the tournament with a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Atlético Madrid following goals from Fabian, Vithina, Mayulu and Lee. They were then narrowly defeated by Botafogo 0-1 I their second group game. In their final group game, goals from Kvaratskhelia and Hakimi gave them a 0-2 win over Seattle Sounders, which meant they topped Group B.
In the knockout stages, they battered Inter Miami by four goals after a brace from Neves, an own goal and a Hakimi clincher in the first half. They then continued to make light work of their opposition, Bayern 2-0 after goals from Doué and Dembele. In their semi-final, they hammered Real Madrid 4-0 after Ruiz scored a brace and Dembele and Ramos scored one each.
You know what you’re going to get with this PSG side, but it seems almost impossible to stop right now with their athleticism, flair and attacking intent. This could be the side that defines how football will be played for the next decade.

Key Players To Watch
Cole Palmer - Chelsea
Since signing for Man City a couple of seasons ago, the decision of the now 23-year-old to leave Manchester has proven vindicated, going from a bit part player to the main man at Chelsea, scoring 41 times and assisting 28 in his first 96 games.
Cole has grown into this tournament with no goal contribution in the first two games; he was benched for the third. He then returned with an assist against Benfica, a goal against Palmeiras and put in a solid showing against Fluminense, though he had no direct goal contributions. For this final, he’s still the most likely game changer for Chelsea and can be gotten at 9/1 to score first and 3/1 to score anytime.

Ousmane Dembele – PSG
Following PSG’s exceptional season, where they won the quadruple and, most importantly of all, that elusive Champions League success. One name who stands above for their contribution to their trophies was France International Ousmane Dembele, whose 35 Goals and 16 Assists in 52 Games means he’s the market leader for the Ballon d’Or prize at the end of the year.
Dembele made his first appearance in the tournament off the bench in a 28-minute cameo against Inter Miami, then in his 20-minute cameo in the following game against Bayern, he made it count, scoring the clincher in a 2-0 win. He had his first start of the tournament in the semi-final, where he scored a goal and contributed an assist in their 4-0 win over Real Madrid. He represents good value at 4/1 for first scorer and 6/5 to score anytime are a real prospect.

Chelsea v PSG Prediction & Best Bet
Prediction: Chelsea 1-3 PSG
Chelsea have impressed to reach this stage, and their young squad could become a genuine force to be reckoned with in the coming seasons.
PSG are the current standard bearers, the most dominant side about as shown by their quadruple success already this season.
Chelsea’s inexperience could be their downfall on Saturday, and I’d expect PSG to win with more than a goal to spare.
