Bayern vs Sporting
Bayern Munich to beat Sporting with over 2.5 goals @1/2
Bayern lost their 100% start in losing at Arsenal last time out, but all signs suggest a comfortable win over Sporting, despite the teams only being separated by two points.
The last time the two met, Bayern claimed the biggest victory in a Champions League knockout tie after thrashing the Lisbon outfit 12-1 on aggregate in the last-16 of the 2008/09 competition.
If that wasn’t a bad enough omen for Sporting, they have only won once in 17 away games in Germany, while Bayern have only lost two of 31 fixtures against Portuguese sides.
Barcelona vs Eintracht Frankfurt
Barcelona to be winning at HT and FT against Eintracht Frankfurt @ 11/20
Champions League football returns to the revamped Nou Camp for the first time in over three years as Barcelona host Eintracht Frankfurt in a clash both clubs could do with winning.
Barca are dwindling in 18th spot, having picked up only seven points, but will be boosted by Saturday’s 5-3 comeback victory at Real Betis - the sixth time Hansi Flick’s men have won after conceding first this season.
In their only previous encounter, Frankfurt knocked Barca out of the 2021/22 Europa League en route to lifting the trophy. However, the Germans return to Spain this week with only four Champions League points in the bank and on the back of a 6-0 Bundesliga mauling at RB Leipzig.
PSV vs Atletico Madrid
PSV to beat Atletico Madrid @ 2/1
Atletico will need to overcome their travel issues if they are to return from Eindhoven with anything to show for their efforts.
Of their 10 away games this term, Diego Simeone’s men have won just twice and suffered all of their five defeats to date, including twice in the Champions League and their last two LaLiga fixtures.
The good news for Atletico is that they have an impressive unbeaten record against PSV, winning four of six meetings and conceding only one goal. The bad news for the Spanish side is that PSV have won 11 of 14 matches since their last defeat this season, including thrashing Napoli and Liverpool.
Monaco vs Galatasaray
Monaco to draw with Galatasaray @ 5/2
Galatasaray had looked on course for a top-eight finish after three successive wins, but a surprise home loss to debutants Union Saint-Gilloise last time out was a huge blow.
That has heaped extra significance on their first trip to Monaco since 2000 as Gala’s final two games against Atletico Madrid and Manchester City won’t be straightforward.
Monaco have had a mixed season both domestically and in Europe so far, but beat Paris St Germain in their last home match, so they will take confidence from that. Interestingly, nine of Monaco’s 20 games this season have produced a red card - including five of the last six.
Union Saint-Gilloise vs Marseille
Union Saint-Gilloise to draw with Marseille and BTTS @ 3/1
USG have beaten PSV and Galatasaray away in their debut Champions League campaign, but have yet to give their fans something to cheer at the Joseph Marien Stadium.
Les Unionistes have been thrashed 4-0 by both Newcastle and Inter Milan in their two home matches, and Marseille certainly have the firepower to continue that trend.
Friday’s 1-0 loss at Lille was only the second time since August that Roberto De Zerbi’s side had failed to find the net, and they are the most prolific scorers in Ligue 1, averaging almost 2.5 goals per game.
