Atlanta vs Club Brugge
ATALANTA TO DRAW WITH CLUB BRUGGE & BTTS @ 7/2
Atalanta have made a steady start to the season and are unbeaten in five Serie A matches - their only setback being a 4-0 Champions League defeat at holders Paris St Germain.
However, they were knocked out of this competition by Club Brugge last season after losing 2-1 away and 3-1 at home in the play-off round, so they will know all about the threat they pose.
The 2023/24 Belgian champions have won 11 of their 15 matches this season, including a 9-1 aggregate thrashing of Rangers, and also brushed aside Monaco 4-1 in their opening league-phase fixture, so we think they could enjoy another fruitful trip.
Kairat vs Real Madrid
REAL MADRID TO WIN AT KAIRAT ALMATY & OVER 3.5 TOTAL GOALS @ 8/11
Kairat Almaty are gearing up for one of the biggest nights in their history, and it could also end up being one of the most uncomfortable as they play host to a Real Madrid side licking their wounds following Saturday’s derby mauling.
Almaty knocked out the likes of Celtic and Slovan Bratislava to qualify for this stage of the Champions League for the first time, but they were hammered 4-1 at Sporting Lisbon in their opening outing and now face the 15-time European champions.
Real may have won their opening seven games under Xabi Alonso, but they were far from convincing, and the new coach’s honeymoon period expired at the weekend as his side were thrashed 5-2 by bitter rivals Atletico, and we are expecting a response.
Atletico Madrid vs Eintracht Frankfurt
ATLETICO MADRID TO BEAT EINTRACHT FRANKFURT & BTTS @ 6/4
Atletico had a poor start to the season, but back-to-back derby wins over Rayo Vallecano and Real Madrid last week should have sparked Diego Simeone’s men into life.
They suffered late European heartbreak at Anfield earlier this month, but we think they will continue their upturn in form against free-scoring Eintracht Frankfurt.
Atletico will have their work cut out to nullify a side who have scored 27 goals in seven games this season, including a 5-1 Champions League win over Galatasaray, but Dino Toppmoller’s side have also found clean sheets hard to come by, keeping just one.
Inter vs Slavia Prague
INTER MILAN HT/FT AGAINST SLAVIA PRAGUE @ 5/6
Inter, last season’s Champions League runners-up, are starting to build some momentum under new boss Cristian Chivu, winning their last three games since suffering back-to-back league defeats to Udinese and Juventus.
The first of those victories was a 2-0 success at Ajax in their Champions League opener, Marcus Thuram netting both goals.
Slavia are still unbeaten this season, winning eight of their 12 matches in all competitions, but they surrendered a 2-0 lead to draw at home to Norwegian minnows Bodo/Glimt earlier this month and could be set for more disappointment in Italy.
Pavos vs Bayern
HARRY KANE TO SCORE & BAYERN MUNICH TO BEAT PAFOS @ 1/2
Pafos claimed a creditable goalless draw at Olympiacos in their Champions League proper debut earlier this month and have since reeled off three successive wins in their domestic league - but things are set to get decidedly trickier for the Cypriot champions.
Red-hot Bayern have won all eight of their competitive matches this season - making the best start by a team in Bundesliga history - and have scored at least three goals in all of them except for a 2-1 German Super Cup win over Stuttgart.
Harry Kane has netted 15 of those goals, including a brace in the 3-1 triumph over Chelsea in their Champions League opener, and we’re backing the England captain to score in a Bayern win, having struck his 100th goal in just his 104th appearance for the club at the weekend.
