Eintracht Frankfurt vs Tottenham
TOTTENHAM TO WIN AT EINTRACHT FRANKFURT @ 7/10
Spurs may be struggling in the Premier League, but they will be going all out to maintain a place in the top eight of the Champions League table when visiting Frankfurt - and the omens look good for that to happen.
Tottenham prevailed at Deutsche Bank Park in last season’s Europa League quarter-finals and beat a superior German side in Borussia Dortmund just a week ago. With their opponents already eliminated, 4/5 for the visitors to prevail feels a solid selection.
Ajax vs Olympiacos
AJAX VS OLYMPIAKOS BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE @ 11/20
Each of these teams realistically needs to chase victory to avoid being eliminated, but they should at least go into the game in a positive frame of mind. Ajax have enjoyed a resurgence since the start of December and kept alive their hopes in this competition with a 4-2 win at Qarabag and a 2-1 victory at Villarreal.
Olympiakos performed with great credit in a 4-3 home loss to Real Madrid and have since beaten Kairat Almaty and Bayer Leverkusen, so everything is set for an entertaining night in Amsterdam.
Athletic Bilbao vs Sporting
ATHLETIC BILBAO TO BEAT SPORTING LISBON @ 6/5
It has been a tough campaign for Athletic, but San Mames is never an easy place to visit, and a white-hot atmosphere is expected for this must-win clash. Ernesto Valverde’s side, who have won seven of their last 10 European home games, are just inside the play-off places thanks to drawing with PSG here and then prevailing 3-2 at Atalanta.
Sporting are as high as 10th in the table and could secure an automatic spot in the last 16 if successful, but they are without a win in their last six Champions League away games.
Dortmund vs Inter
BORUSSIA DORTMUND TO WIN OR DRAW VS INTER @ 8/13
Inter took advantage of a favourable early run of fixtures to win their first four Champions League matches, but have since faltered with three straight defeats against Atletico Madrid, Liverpool and Arsenal. With a five-point lead at the Serie A summit and two away trips coming up in that competition, we just feel their priorities may be elsewhere.
Dortmund have lost only one of their last 21 Champions League matches at home and have secured seven points out of a possible nine at Signal Iduna Park this season.
Benfica vs Real Madrid
REAL MADRID TO WIN AT BENFICA @ 3/4
Benfica are toiling in 29th place in the table and must go all out for a win at the Stadium of Light, which we all know isn’t the best scenario for a Jose Mourinho team.
There is a slight fear that third-placed Real may feel they have already done enough with 15 points on the board, but new boss Alvaro Arbeloa is more likely to want to maintain the momentum gained by three straight wins, including a 6-1 rout of Monaco in this competition.
