Champion Hurdle 2026 odds: Constitution Hill heads ‘non-runner, no bet’ market

Champion Hurdle

With the dust now settled on Friday’s sensational Flat success at Southwell , Constitution Hill is 9/4 favourite with BOYLE Sports in the Champion Hurdle 2026 odds. Nicky Henderson’s superstar has fallen on three of his last four outings over obstacles, but gave everyone a reminder of his class when romping to a wide-margin victory on the level.

Opinions are divided over whether the nine-year-old should now be campaigned solely on the Flat, or be handed a chance to regain the Champion Hurdle crown he claimed so imperiously back in 2023.

2026 Champion Hurdle Winner Prediction

Fortunately for punters, BOYLE Sports are offering a ‘non-runner, no bet’ concession on the day one feature at next month’s Cheltenham Festival!

Will Constitution Hill Run In Champion Hurdle?

Buckley and Henderson facing big dilemma

Speaking on Racing TV’s Luck on Sunday programme, owner Michael Buckley admitted: “If he runs, it will be very, very hard on my heart, and if he doesn’t run and something else wins, I’m going to think we could have won that race. “I really don’t want to sound disrespectful, but whatever those (other Champion Hurdle ) horses do, none of them have been winning by 20 lengths or breaking track records, so I’m going to think we could have won it.

“The question is, do I want to watch a race that’s hard on my head or hard on my heart, because it’s going to be hard on one of them whichever way we go.” Another schooling session over hurdles could determine what route connections end up taking. Henderson revealed: “The plan is to school him again this week with Yogi Breisner , we’ve been doing loads of that and it’s been going fantastically well. Nico (de Boinville) is thrilled with him. “It’s keeping an option open, but there is a lot of responsibility behind what we decide to do. We’ve got to bear that in mind.

“Hopefully he’s done a lot for the racing front page there, to give it that sort of publicity, but on the other hand I could undo that in 10 seconds if it all went pear-shaped and we are well aware of that.”

Competitive Field Expected

Betting wide-open behind market leader

Dan Skelton’s International Hurdle winner The New Lion and the Gordon Elliott -trained Irish Champion Hurdle ace Brighterdaysahead are both quoted at 11/4. Lossiemouth is next best at 7/2 in the Champion Hurdle odds , with the ‘non-runner, no bet’ offer again significant here, as she could target a third straight Mares’ Hurdle success instead.

Last year’s surprise victor, Golden Ace , is a 6/1 chance to retain her title after doing well over the winter, winning the Fighting Fifth and placing second in the Christmas Hurdle behind Sir Gino . Trainer Jeremy Scott sidestepped an intended warm-up engagement at Wincanton earlier this month due to unsuitable soft ground but remains hopeful of another bold showing at Cheltenham .

He said: “I think she’s in a pretty good place now, she’ll do a good piece of work on the grass and there is a chance she’ll have a racecourse gallop, but she’s quite easy to get right usually.”
