We have a Brighton v Man United prediction for you plus a breakdown of the betting odds, team news and matchups ahead of Saturday's early kickoff.
Brighton opened their Premier League account for the season with a comfortable 0-3 victory against Everton with former Man United player Welbeck scoring alongside Mitoma (the opener) and Adingra (the last goal).
Man United put in an assured performance in their opening game against Fulham, something which they didn’t do regularly last season. However, it took a late debut goal from Zirkzee in the 87th minute to grab them an opening night 3 points.

Brighton v Man United Preview
Brighton’s Form
Brighton head into this season unburdened by Europe, despite their Round of 16 Europa League appearance last season they struggled to balance that with their league performance and so fell from 6th the previous season to 11th place. However, following a positive off-season with the acquisitions of the likes of Minteh, Wieffer and most recently Rutter. They now look on course to put forward a positive league campaign in 24/25.
Goodison Park was their destination on the opening weekend and the not-so-easy task of seeing an Everton side who were stoic and resolute under Sean Dyche last season. However, they made light work of that challenge, dominating possession with 61% of the ball and despite having only one more shot (10 vs 9) to the home side they scored 3 goals from an XG of 1.79 while Everton couldn’t score from their XG of 0.41.
Brighton won’t fear Man United on Saturday having gotten the better of them in 5 of their last 6 games in all competitions. It’ll be interesting to see if new Head Coach Fabian Hürzeler (31) can continue that trend.

Man United’s Form
Man United last season were chaotic both on and off the field, had it not been for their FA Cup victory over their crosstown rivals Man City that would have almost certainly spelled the end of ten Hag at the club. Nevertheless, ten Hag survived, and INEOS have seemingly stepped it up considerably in the off-season with Yoro, de Ligt, Zirkzee and Mazraoui all coming in with more names expected before the transfer deadline.
On the opening night of the season they earned themselves a 1-0 victory over Fulham to get their campaign started on the right trajectory. However, more so impressive was the manner of the performance, last season they won their opener against Wolves by the same margin but this time around they exhibited far more control and structure with 56% of possession, 14 shots for an XG of 2.04 to beat Fulham eventually through Zirkzee’s late goal.
Whether last weekend was a sign of a more consistent season at the club or just a flash in the pan remains to be seen. However, if they can replicate the performance and result against a side they usually struggle against, the signs will be bright for 24/25.

Key Players To Watch
Yankuba Minteh - Brighton
Brighton’s stand-out summer acquisition was Yankuba Minteh (20) from Newcastle for a reported £30 million from Newcastle. Minteh came into the Premier League with a growing reputation in the game following 11 goals and 6 assists in 37 games on loan at Feyenoord last season.
Minteh is an extremely exciting RW with brilliant dribbling and passing ability while also offering a finishing threat and strong defensive contribution. He got on the scoresheet on the opening weekend of the season, and he will be critical to Brighton on Saturday coming up against a makeshift LB in Dalot.
Noussair Mazraoui - Man United
One of the biggest standouts in Man United’s opening night victory over Fulham was a new signing from Bayern Noussair Mazraoui (26). The Moroccan International looked at home on the right-hand side of the Man United defence providing the passing ability ten Hag desires completing 35/38 passes whilst also being very strong defensively making 2/2 tackles, 2 clearances, 3 interceptions and 5 recoveries.
Brighton v Man United Prediction & Best Bet
Prediction: Brighton 0-2 Man United
Brighton are coming into this season refreshed from pre-season, in good form and with the confidence of knowing that they’ve gotten the better of Man United more often than not in recent times.
Man United looked stronger in their performance against Fulham, but there is always an air of inconsistency following them in their performances and results for the last decade and so a larger sample size is required before we can state that the club is back outright on a positive trajectory.
This will be a fascinating game to watch tactically, but I think Man United should be able to do enough in the end to win narrowly.
Best Bet: Man United Win + Under 3.5 Goals @ 3/1
