Bravemansgame is within touching distance of favouritism for the Festival Novices’ Chase at Cheltenham next year after making an early move up the betting following his debut over fences.

Paul Nicholls’ six-year-old went off a 4/6 favourite in a four-runner field in the Intermediate Chase at Newton Abbot and led from start to finish as an impressive round of jumping saw him win comfortably by 5½ lengths ahead of Nicky Henderson’s Fusil Raffles.

We have since trimmed Bravemansgame into 8/1 from 10/1 to win the race formerly known as the RSA Chase""

...making him second favourite behind early market leader Galopin Des Champs who ended last season by winning the Grade One Novice Hurdle at the Punchestown Festival in April.

Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle winner Bob Olinger is the early favourite for the Marsh Novices’ Chase in 2022 over the shorter trip of 2m4f, but the Sunday victory for Bravemansgame means he is now hot on the heels of the early favourites at 16/1 from 28/1.
