Gary Anderson (53) despite being a multiple major winner, his best finish in this event is a runner-up run in 2016 losing 5-2 to Michael Van Gerwen. Ahead of this competition, 2024 hasn’t been his best though aside from a Semi-Final result at the World Cup of Darts.
In the first round, he claimed a hard-fought comeback 1-2 victory over Michael Smith averaging 90.89. After losing the first set 3-1 he came back and won 1-3 and 2-3 in the next two sets. That victory has seen his outright odds for the competition CUT from 12/1 joint fourth favourite to 4/1 second favourite.
“The Real Deal” first played on the PDC Youth Tour in 2014 and reached the Last 16 twice but has yet to trouble a major event. However, in the Players Championships this year, he reached a quarter-final and won once.
In the first round, he claimed a 2-1 victory over Damon Heta following individual set results of 3-2, 1-3 and 3-2 winning the match despite players winning an equal 7 legs each doing so with a 92.01 average.

Gerwyn Price vs James Wade
Time: 20:00
Price v Wade Odds | ||
---|---|---|
Player | Odds | Chance |
Gerwyn Price | 4/6 | 60% |
James Wade | 6/5 | 43.5% |
Price likes this event. In 2020 he won this event by beating Dirk van Duijvenbode 5–2 and last year finished runner-up losing 5-2 to Gerwyn Price. Ahead of this event, he had been having a poor run with no victories across the major circuit, European Tour and Players Championships.
Price had a 2-1 victory over Danny Noppert in the first round despite averaging 83.33 to his opponent's 85.88 he displayed more consistent checkout ability with 38.1% to 26.09% which meant he ended up winning after scores of 3-1, 2-3 and 3-2 individual set scorelines. His odds since have been CUT from 12/1 to 8/1 for the outright tournament win.
James Wade (41) is a two-time winner of this event with victories in both 2007 against Terry Jenkins and in 2010 against Adrian Lewis. Though he isn’t as consistent as he used to be ahead of this event he did reach the Semi-Final of the 2024 World Matchplay.
Wade as he so often does overcame the odds against Wright in the first round winning 1-2 from an average of 90.44and checkout rate of 36.36% which was good enough to claim a comeback win after scores of 3-2, 1-3 and 0-3.

Daryl Gurney vs Joe Cullen
Time: 21:00
Gurney v Cullen Odds | ||
---|---|---|
Player | Odds | Chance |
Daryl Gurney | 4/6 | 60% |
Joe Cullen | 6/5 | 43.5% |
Daryl Gurney (38) on his day is a match for any player on tour which this event knows well after he won the event in 2017 defeating Simon Whitlock 5-4. In 2024 he reached the Quarter-Final of both the Masters and the World Series of Darts.
He showed that ability in abundance in the first round to overcome the odds and knockout Michael Van Gerwen by a shock 0-2 scoreline with an average of 92.97 and a checkout rate of 66.67% bringing him 0-3 victories in both sets.
Joe Cullen's best finish in the World Grand Prix was a Semi-Final finish in 2023 and he is another dangerous player in his day. However, 2024 has been a year of early exits aside from a runner-up finish at the Austrian Darts Open.
In the first round, he defeated his underperforming friend Dobey (85.05) 1-2 with individual set results of 3-1, 1-3 and 0-3 with an average of 93.23 and a checkout rate of 36.84%.
Best Bet: Daryl Gurney @ 4/6
