BoyleSports, Ireland’s largest independently owned bookmaker and sponsor of the Professional Darts Corporation’s World Grand Prix, has launched an exciting charity initiative for this year’s unique double-start tournament.

BoyleSports World Grand Prix D20 for £20 Charity Challenge

The ‘D20 for £20’ Charity Challenge will see BoyleSports contribute £20 for every double 20 that is hit during the week-long tournament, which will take place from October 7-13 at Leicester’s Mattioli Arena.

The player who hits the most double 20s throughout the tournament will get to choose what charity will benefit from the lump sum.

The BoyleSports World Grand Prix is renowned for its unique format, which requires players to both begin and end each leg by hitting a double, adding an extra layer of skill and tension to the action.

The challenging double-in, double-out format means the double 20 becomes a frequent target for players looking to maximise their scoring potential, with many stars – including former champions Michael van Gerwen, Gerwyn Price and James Wade and stars Michael Smith and Dave Chisnall – opting to aim at ‘double top’ as a preferred route in.

Sharon McHugh, Head of PR and Sponsorship for BoyleSports, commented on the initiative:

“We’re delighted to introduce our ‘D20 for £20’ Charity Challenge at this year’s BoyleSports World Grand Prix, which is always one of the most thrilling events on the darts calendar.

“The unique double-in format makes it a perfect stage to bring awareness to a range of charitable causes and we can’t wait to see which player hits the most Double 20s and the positive impact it will have on their chosen charity.”

PDC Chief Executive Matt Porter said:

"BoyleSports are always supportive of charities during the World Grand Prix and this is an innovative way for our players to support their chosen charity at this year's event."

Darts Stars Choose Worthy Causes To Receive Benefits Of Charity Challenge

World number one Luke Humphries will be the defending champion when the 2024 BoyleSports World Grand Prix begins on Monday, October 7th at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester. Humphries’ victory in the event last year has sparked an incredible run of success which has seen him also go on to become World Champion and win a host of other televised titles including the Grand Slam of Darts and World Matchplay.

Humphries has chosen Prostate Cancer UK as the beneficiary should he chalk up the most D20s during the BoyleSports World Grand Prix, while six-time champion Michael van Gerwen has singled out the Make-A-Wish Foundation if he heads the ‘tops table’ and 2021 winner Jonny Clayton nominated 11Speed as his charity.

Another former champion, Gerwyn Price, is backing the Greyhound Trust, Masters champion Stephen Bunting has chosen Marie Curie Cancer Care, while Damon Heta will be supporting Movember.
