Boylesports Irish Greyhound Derby Round 2 Heats 9-16

The BOYLE Sports Irish Greyhound Derby continues this Friday, August 29th, with 48 dogs looking to book their place into the next round of one of the sport's biggest prizes.

A total of 72 names went into the draw drum for the second round of the BOYLE Sports Irish Greyhound Derby at Shelbourne Park on Saturday Night. Night 2 of Round 2 promises to be another exciting affair with the likes of Bombay Pat, Callaway Knegare and Proper Heiress all scheduled to run.

The final of the classic is scheduled for Saturday, September 27th.

Bombay Pat

Heat 9

1 Faypoint Ranger -6/1

2 Sunshine Sioux – 10/1

3 Prince Naseem – 16/1

4 Slipalong Duke – 20/1

5 Ballymac Tibet (m) – 9/2

6 Bombay Pat  (w) – 2/5

Tip

Bombay Pat won in style in the opening round and will be a heavy favourite to land a second successive heat victory. However, for me, he’s too short in the market

I think Ballymac Tibet is a value play, having already clocked 29.40 and only turned two years of age.

Heat 10

1 Hackney Corner – 8/15

2 Priceless Romeo – 16/1

3 Great Morning – 50/1

4 Blastoff Heffo – 6/1

5 Cushie The Best (m) – 10/1

6 The Other Wild (w) – 3/1

Tip

Hackney Corner will be the likely favourite following his 29.43 opening round win for Pat Buckley but he is far too short for me, and I think he’s best challenged

The Other Wild is more capable on the clock than he has shown for the 550 trip and I fancy him to go close.

Callaway Knegare

Tip

A competitive affair could be on the cards here, with not much between most in the heat.

Callway Knegare was lucky to qualify last week, but he has far more pace than that run would suggest, and I think he remains a good value play in the market.

Proper Heiress

Tip

Proper Heiress looks a proper contender for the UK challenge in this year’s BOYLE Sports Irish Greyhound Derby following his 29.45 victory last week.

I think there’s even more improvement in him this week, and if he does, he will be able to put it up with any dog in the event.

Ballinbola Joe

Tip

Balinbola Joe wasn’t at his best last week, but having been drawn in one of the “slower heats” of the second round, he’s very likely to go off as a short-priced favourite for this race. I’d look elsewhere, though.

Daragh Sydney ran well behind Cheap Sandwiches last week and could improve further.

Rural Pest

Tip

Rural Pest didn’t deliver on his favouritism for Graham Holland last week, but did enough to qualify in third, clocking 29.73 on his first time around the 550 trip since last June.

This lightly raced dog (draw dependent) could go a few rounds yet.

Tip

Magical Sapphire is the favourite for this race following her 29.58 win last week, and she is a worthy one at that.

However, I like the look of young Ballymac Lake , who won’t turn two until November. If he can break better from traps, he has plenty of gears to go through in the next couple of years.

Sword Style

4 Magical Keith – 5/2

Tip

The final heat of the second round will likely have Sword Style as the market leader following his 29.56 victory last weekend.

Droopys Deploy was disappointing last week, but can trouble the favourite if he can get things right from the traps.
