BoyleSports Cheltenham Festival Preview night took place on Thursday, 3rd March with our guest panel of Gordon Elliott, Bryan Cooper, Jack Kennedy, Philip Enright & Leon Blanche.
Here's their thoughts on the best races from Day Four of the Festival.
Cheltenham Gold Cup
Trainer Gordon Elliott believes Galvin is in with a great chance of claiming the big prize on the final day of the Cheltenham Festival next week.
The 8-year-old is the current joint favourite for Friday’s Gold Cup alongside fellow 7/2 shot A Plus Tard, who he beat by a short head last time out in the Savills Chase at Leopardstown at Christmas.
Elliott has already landed Cheltenham’s blue riband once by way of Don Cossack in 2016 and told BoyleSports he believes Galvin gives him a great opportunity to double his tally.
A confident Elliott said: “I think Galvin is absolutely flying and I don’t say it too often about many horses. I think he has a great chance. Whatever beats him will win.”
Triumph Hurdle
Elliott also boasts two leading fancies in Friday’s opener with Pied Piper (5/2) and Fil Dor (6/1) prominent in the betting for the Triumph Hurdle.
“The Triumph Hurdle is a very competitive race,” he added. “Willie Mullins’ horse Vauban was very good at Leopardstown the last day. Pied Piper is probably the classiest horse of the race for me, but Fil Dor is a good horse and the track on Friday will really suit him.
"It will depend on the pace of the race, but if I had to put my hand on my heart I’d side with Fil Dor.”
