The BoyleSports Champion Stakes is set to begin this Saturday, June 29th with €20,000 to the winner!

Last year the event was won by Trinity Junior for trainer Peter Cronin who clocked a swift 29.34, the fastest clock since Ballymac Armintas’ 29.31 win for Liam Dowling in 2019.

The Robert G. Gleeson-trained hound Whyaye Bonnylad is the early joint-favourite at 6/1, these odds imply that the dog has a 14.3% of earning Gleeson’s first victory in the competition.

The February 2022 Whelp is the son of Ballymac Cashout and Drumalee Premier who has 9 victories and 2 runner-up finishes from 17 races on the track, the highlight coming in his G1 National Puppy Derby success last December coming 1.5 lengths ahead of runner-up Dunnanelly Fred in 28.15.

The dog's latest outing was earlier this month where he was victorious stopping the clock in 28.31 coming 4 lengths ahead of Knockeen Dazzler. This dog has another major success in him, and the Champion Stakes might just be that.

Carmac King - 6/1

The Owen McKenna-trained Carmac King is the other early joint-favourite at 6/1, these odds imply that the dog has a 14.3% chance of landing McKenna’s second success in the competition after Pestana won in 2020.

The March 2022 Whelp is the son of Droopys Sydney and Peters Queen who has a prolific strike rate of  10 victories and 1 runner-up finish from 19 races the highlight being his success in the Shelbourne Champion 550 Final last May where he clocked 29.34 coming 3 lengths ahead of Maireads Prince

The dog's latest outing was last week where he was impeded at the first bend but ran on strongly in third coming 6.5 lengths behind winner Carrick Keano who clocked 29.72. Carmac King is another serious contender for the Champion Stakes.

Next up in the betting is Highview Splash at 8/1.

The September 2021 Whelp is the son of Pat C Sabbath and Highview Abbey and has a record of 9 wins and 3 runner-up finishes from 18 races, the highlight of his racing career being a sensational 27.97 at Shelbourne Park for the 525-yard trip last September.

The dog's latest outing was earlier this month where it made all at the first bend and held on to win at Shelbourne over the 550-yard trip in a time of 29.63 coming a NK ahead of Ballyhimkikin Rex.

Knockeen Dazzler – 8/1

The Daniel O'Rahilly-trained Knockeen Dazzler is the other joint second favourite at 8/1, these odds imply that the dog has a 14.3% chance of landing O’Rahilly his first Champion Stakes success.

The March 2022 Whelp is the son of Laughil Blake and Love Island who has a strong strike rate of  6 victories and 2 runner-up finishes from 13 races the highlight being his success when he won the classic the Con/Annie Kirby Memorial last April.

The dog's last race came at his favourite track Tralee earlier this month where stopped the clock in a fast 28.02 to finish 3.5 lengths ahead of Sogna In Grande.
