Heats
BOYLE Sports Irish Greyhound Derby Round 2 Tips – Friday Heats
Heat 1
1 Lennies Dream – 2/1
2 Droopys Patriot – 5/4
3 Harlequin Paul – 16/1
4 Shanahee Bomber – 9/2
5 Tarsna Maasai (w) – 8/1
6 Betgoodwin Ben (w) – 10/1
Tip
We tipped up Droopys Patriot last week for a heat victory in the opening round, and he duly delivered, winning in a swift 29.30, and this special sort looks to be a big player in this competition.
I expect him to deliver again, but if looking for an each-way play, Shanehee Bomber is far more capable than his 4th finish last week.
Seven Beach
Heat 2
1 Callaway Five – 4/1
2 Ballymac Danica – 2/1
3 Swithins Jim – 20/1
4 Fahee Phantom – 8/1
5 Seven Beach (w) – 7/4
6 Coosane Pickles (w) – 5/1
Tip
The second heat of the night has two we tipped for victories last week in Ballymac Danica and Seven Beach. They’re likely to dominate the market again and deservingly so.
Seven Beach can go better than his 29.72 win last week, and if you fancy an each-way play there, Callaway Five is lightly raced with plenty of improvement in him.
De Lahdedah
Heat 3
1 Desert Flower – 33/1
2 Magical Mag - 2/1
3 Ballyhooly Bruno – 5/1
4 De Lahdedah – EVS
5 In Good Time (w) – 10/1
6 Balinbola Jim (w) -10/1
Tip
De Lahdedah showed there was plenty of legs left in the former classic winner last week, winning in 29.53, and I expect more of the same for this heat. If looking for something to challenge him, Ballyhooly Bruno for Tom O’Neil is far better than his 4th finish from the opening round.
Bockos Diamond
Heat 4
1 Faypoint Harvey – 8/1
2 Rolo Tokyo – 5/2
3 Happy Jet – 33/1
4 Ventry Faith – 20/1
5 Blackeyd Turbo (m) – 33/1
6 Bockos Diamond (w) – 2/5
Tip
Last year’s Derby Winner Bockos Diamond suffered his first defeat last weekend at Shelbourne Park but losing by a length to Epic Ace, and still clocking 29.45 is still an impressive outing for the dog, and we know there is far more in him, making him a worthy favourite for both this race and in the outright market.
If looking to challenge the favourite, Rolo Tokyo was exceptional in victory last week.
Heat 5
1 Toolmaker Josepe – 3/1
2 Untold Rufiyaa – N/R
3 Cheque For Cash– 11/8
4 Da Bold Falcon – 4/1
5 Hot Wood (m) – 4/1
6 Upper Horgan (w) – 6/1
Tip
Heat 5 looks to be one of the more open betting heats from the second round, with the veteran campaigners back on their fastest clocks, while the youngsters have plenty of improvement in them.
At a push, I’d go with Toolmaker Josepe to deliver again for my tipping.
Heat 6
1 Headleys Trump - 4/1
2 Cosmonaut - 8/1
3 Sallagh Curly – 8/1
4 Lookandlep – 4/1
5 Razdazl Kamaria (m) – 8/1
6 Hello Diego (w) – EVS
Tip
Hello Diego stayed on strong to finish three lengths behind Bombay Pat last week, and that run should have him favourite for this heat.
However, I think he’s worth challenging in the market, and Headleys Trump would be my fancy.
Ballymac Axel
Heat 7
1 Oreo Ollie – 9/4
2 Brickhill Moana - 25/1
3 Solo And Go – 5/2
4 Danzig Rebel – 20/1
5 Blossom Syd (m) – 20/1
6 Ballymac Axel (w) – EVS
Tip
The penultimate heat of the night will likely have Ballymac Axel, who we also tipped up last week favourite for another heat victory and expect him to go close again.
Solo And Go showed sensational early gears last week for Liam Dowling, and if he can stay a bit better, he could trouble the favourite.
Cheap Sandwiches
Heat 8
1 Brunch Pal – 25/1
2 Bushpark Rodney – 16/1
3 Unamious Leo – 12/1
4 Epic Ace – 5/2
5 Carrick Scholsey (m) – 9/4
6 Cheap Sandwiches (w) – 11/10
Tip
This heat has a sensational five heat winners from last week, with Bushpark Rodney for Graham Holland finishing 4th. It looks to be a battle of the outside three, though, with all being major players to win the outright competition.
A very difficult heat to assess, but I think Epic Ace is being underestimated on the current odds.
