We’re into the business end of the BOYLE Sports Irish Greyhound Derby with 24 dogs on Saturday Night set to battle it out for a place in the semi-finals.
The final of the classic is scheduled for Saturday, September 27th.
BOYLE Sports Irish Greyhound Derby Quarter-Final Heat Tips
Cheap Sandwiches
Heat 1
1 Priceless Romeo - 8/1
2 Lennies Dream – 6/1
3 Callaway Five – 12/1
4 Unanimous Leo – 11/2
5 Cheap Sandwiches (w) – 1/2
6 Droopys Deploy (w) – 14/1
Tip
Following a few shock eliminations and withdrawals in the last week, Cheap Sandwiches has assumed the role as the outright favourite for the competition and will go off as a heavy favourite for Heat 1 of Quarter-Final Night.
I’ll be looking for more value, though, and if Lennies Dream can ping from traps again, I think he’s the value play here.

Ballymac Stud
Heat 2
1 Magical Mag – 2/1
2 Happy Jet – 14/1
3 Ballymac Stud – 11/8
4 Shanahee Boomer – 9/4
5 Blastoff Heffo – 16/1
6 Tarsna Maasai (w) – 33/1
Tip
The second heat of the quarter-finals looks to be a very open affair with only roughly 20 spots separating the “slowest” to “fastest” on the clocks here. Blastoff Heffo at a huge price is worthy of traction, but will need to trap better from a difficult draw for the inside seed.
Shanahee Boomer is the one I like, as this early-paced dog has quietly flown under the radar for Cork-based trainer Kieran Lynch.
Proper Heiress
Heat 3
1 Proper Heiress – 8/11
2 Singalong Curly - 5/1
3 Phoenix Memphis – 33/1
4 Cheque For Cash– 5/1
5 Glengar Silent (m) – 4/1
6 Magical Sapphire (w) - 12/1
Tip
Leading UK hope Proper Heiress was exceptional in victory last weekend, firmly establishing himself as one of the leading players for the competition, and I think she will deliver again in this heat.
Singalong Curly’s early dash is worthy of note, too, at a bigger price.
De Lahdedah
Heat 4
1 Ballyhooly Bruno – 6/1
2 Barefoot On Song - 5/1
3 Oreo Ollie– 8/1
4 De Lahdedah – 11/8
5 Rural Pest (m) – 4/1
6 Coosane Pickles (w) -5/1
Tip
Ballyhooly Bruno continues to qualify for trainer Tom O’Neil, and the likes of youngsters Oreo Ollie and Rural Pest should have plenty of improvement in them.
I can’t look past veteran campaigner De Lahdedah , who, despite some of the high-profile exits, is still not getting the traction his chances deserve.
