The King George VI Chase headlines a superb afternoon of action which also features three other Grade One contests and a couple of competitive handicaps.
Boxing Day Tips – ITV Racing
Kempton 12:45
KEMPTON 12:45 – U CANT BE SERIOUS
Joe Tizzard ’s team have been in red-hot form this term and this progressive six-year-old has shown a fine attitude to bag an Exeter double.
Aintree 13:05
AINTREE 13:05 – MYDADDYPADDY
Dan Skelton ’s charge began the season as ante-post favourite for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle on the strength of an impressive Huntingdon bumper win and has only enhanced his reputation with a couple of emphatic victories over obstacles at Carlisle and Haydock .
Mydaddypaddy has more on his plate in the Grade One William Hill Formby Novices’ Hurdle but connections have been bullish about him taking this upgrade in his stride.
Kempton 13:20
KEMPTON 13:20 – KITZBUHEL
Just below the very best novice hurdlers last season, Willie Mullins ’ charge took well to jumping fences at Punchestown recently and is taken to outstrip Salver and Wendigo in the Ladbrokes Kauto Star Novices’ Chase .
Wetherby 13:35
WETHERBY 13:35 – KONFUSION
Sue Smith and Joel Parkinson have been picking up some nice prizes in staying chases of late and this emphatic Newcastle scorer can continue the trend in the £50,000 Rowland Meyrick .
Kempton 13:55
KEMPTON 13:55 – SIR GINO
Constitution Hill has claimed Christmas Hurdle glory for the past three seasons but in his absence, Nicky Henderson has called up his super-sub.
Sir Gino starred when stepping in for his stablemate in last year’s Fighting Fifth at Newcastle before a brief switch to novice chasing when brushing aside Ballyburn on his debut over fences at this meeting a year ago.
He was subsequently sidelined by a serious infection but recent reports from Seven Barrows suggest the sparkle is back and a Champion Hurdle campaign is back on the cards.
Kempton 14:30
KEMPTON 14:30 – THE JUKEBOX MAN
The Mullins -trained pair of Gaelic Warrior and Fact To File set a strong standard on official ratings in the King George following their epic John Durkan battle at Punchestown last month.
However, The Jukebox Man was brilliant over this course and distance 12 months ago in the Kauto Star Novices’ Chase , a race Bravemansgame won the year before he landed the King George and Il Est Francais very nearly completed the double last year.
It was impossible not to be visually impressed by the way the seven-year-old went about his business when returning from injury to strike at Haydock recently and runner-up Iroko has since franked that form, so he appeals as value at the odds on offer and it could be party time for popular owner Harry Redknapp .
