Punters on weather watch as mercury rises

BOYLE Sports is feeling the heat as optimistic punters continue to bet on this month being the hottest August ever recorded in the UK.

A fourth heatwave of the summer will see blistering heat across this week as the UK Health Security Agency issued warnings across much of the south, with the mercury set to reach the mid-30s by Tuesday.

Britain’s all-time temperature record of 40.3°C in Coningsby in 2022 could also be under threat as thermometers eek towards the high 30s and the oddsmakers aren’t pouring cold water on the idea of it being broken.

Some shrewd punters have already backed the possibility of a record-breaking summer into just 6/1 from 16/1 with London set to be hotter than Bali, Beirut and even New Delhi this week.

Brian O’Keeffe, spokesperson for BOYLE Sports, said:

“Punters are clearly revelling in the sun, but the high pressure isn’t just confined to weather maps because the dwindling odds on a new temperature record before the summer is out means us bookies are very much feeling the heat too.”
