Shakespeare Hit Could Spell More Awards For Kerry-Born Star

Killarney native Jessie Buckley is a red-hot 1/20 favourite with BOYLE Sports to win Best Actress - Drama at this weekend's Golden Globes gala after securing a Critics' Choice Award on Sunday night.

Starring as Agnes in Chloé Zao’s critically acclaimed Hamnet , Buckley has a 95% chance of scooping her biggest career accolade to date, according to the oddsmakers, with Renate Reinsve (8/1) and Hollywood superstar Jennifer Lawrence (16/1) next in the betting.

Buckley’s co-star Paul Mescal, however, will have to overcome outside odds of 25/1 if he is to pen an acceptance speech for the Beverly Hills bash, while Hamnet (5/6) is a narrow favourite over Sinners (13/8) to win Best Motion Picture – Drama.

Buckley could also be smiling when the Academy Awards roll into town in March as she once again finds herself as a strong favourite (1/8) to become the first Irish woman to lift the Best Actress Oscar, with Timothée Chalamet (1/3) leading the race for Best Actor for his role in Marty Supreme .

Brian O’Keeffe, spokesperson for BOYLE Sports, said:

“Awards season is about to hit top gear in Hollywood, and it’s safe to say that plenty of film fans think it could be a blockbuster year for Jessie Buckley.
