There was precious little to separate Brentford and Newcastle following the conclusion of last weekend’s Premier League action, either through form or league placing.
Brentford are 12th on 13 points, one point and one place above the Magpies, while both clubs had identical WLWWWL records from their last six competitive matches.
They were also each coming off painful losses, Brentford beaten 2-0 by London rivals Crystal Palace with Newcastle going down 3-1 at struggling West Ham.
Newcastle have since bounced back with a 2-0 Champions League win over Athletic Bilbao and Brentford will hope to do likewise on Sunday. We think the points could be shared, though, and you can get 3/1 for a score draw for our initial Brentford vs Newcastle prediction.

Head-to-Head Record
Head-to-Head Record
These two met three times last season, with the home team coming out on top on each occasion.
Brentford won 4-2 in December before Newcastle responded with back-to-back victories. The Magpies claimed a 3-1 quarter-final success as part of their triumphant Carabao Cup campaign before winning 2-1 in the league.
Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo, who between them scored four of Brentford’s six goals in those three fixtures, are no longer with the Bees.
Wissa moved to St James’ Park in a £55million deal but is yet to make an appearance for his new club due to injury.
Prior to last term, Newcastle had bossed this fixture with five successive wins following a 3-3 draw.
Brentford Form Guide
Brentford Form Guide
Brentford’s three-match winning run came to a disappointing end with defeat at Selhurst Park but they can still be proud of their progress under Keith Andrews.
The Bees may be in the bottom half of the table but are just five points behind champions Liverpool in third and, perhaps more importantly, six clear of the relegation zone.
They have also beaten Liverpool, Manchester United and Aston Villa at home already this season so should have no reason to fear the Magpies.
If you anticipate a home win then you can get 19/10, or if you fancy the Bees to score in both halves – as they have in six of their 13 games this season – then that is 3/1.

Newcastle Form Guide
Newcastle’s midweek victory over Athletic Club, secured by goals from Dan Burn and Joelinton, was their fifth successive triumph at St James’ Park, during which they have conceded only once.
It hasn’t been the same story on their travels, however.
Eddie Howe’s troops have won just once in six away games, which was their 4-0 Champions League success at Union Saint-Gilloise, and last weekend were beaten 3-1 at a Hammers side who had previously lost eight of their 10 matches this season.
Newcastle are 11/8 to claim all three points at Gtech Community Stadium while you can get 5/1 for Magpies’ leading scorer Nick Woltemade to net first.
